In his visionary journeys, Pallamary has been blessed to experience reality filtered through a shamanic world view where everything is energy, and from this magical point of view the word spirit and energy mean the same thing. He says that if you see the world amplified through the lens of this timeless supernatural perspective, you will gain insight into the profound ways that plants, animals, and insects communicate with us and each other.

Spirit touches us in every moment of our existence; only most of us are caught up in the dramas that we have created in our lives, blinding us to a reality far greater than anything we can imagine with our rational minds. It is simply a matter of awareness. Though we often feel lost and abandoned in a cold and uncaring world, the truth is that we live in the illusion of our own self-created exile, away from the Source of our being which has never stopped loving us - unconditionally.

My first short story collection, The Small Dark Room of the Soul and Other Stories published thirty years ago made references to the collective fears of those times. Much has happened over the last three decades since then with shifting geopolitics, explosive growth in science, technology, pandemics, school shootings, chaotic weather patterns, homelessness, and all the other problems we still struggle with as we move deeper into the twenty-first century.

Journey back 250 years, into a long forgotten world, where nature speaks through plants, and song pours forth from cascading waterfalls as breathtakingly as a church choir sings Ave Maria. A place where the rhythm of a feathered rattle is believed to bring you closer to your creator. A world where mysticism and innate spirituality conflict with Christianity. Avá-Tapé, raised in the traditions of the Guarani Indians of South America, then Mission educated by the Jesuits, sees the truth and beauty in both worlds, but he can only live in one.
