Story
Paul Robeson’s bass-baritone voice captivated audiences, especially when singing the spirituals he had heard at church and folk songs he had gathered from many countries. But Robeson was more than an interpreter of song. He was passionate about the injustices found in the United States and throughout the world and refused to keep quiet. As a stage and film actor, he fought against stereotypical roles and racism. Labeled a communist during the height of the Cold War, Robeson was stripped of his U.S. passport and found himself unable to earn a living. But Robeson never gave up or gave in.

Story
Travel back to the early days of Hollywood to meet twelve women who made it all happen. Twelve diverse actors, directors, writers, editors, designers, and producers who fought against sexism, racism, and prejudice to have their voices heard. And who changed the industry forever. Their influence can still be seen and felt today. Susan Goldman Rubin, who often writes about the arts and who lives near Hollywood, follows the paths these twelve took. Paths that included not only social, economic, and personal struggles but also major triumphs. And whose films are everlasting.

Story
As a child, Andy loved to draw. He took classes at the Carnegie Museum of art, where his teacher told the class,"everything you look at has art." In college many teachers didn't appreciate Andy's understanding of art. He annoyed them by doing things his own way - like by cutting a painting into four parts and submitting it as separate assignments. But later, his unique approach would lead to people everywhere reevaluating their ideas.

Story
Mary Seacole spent much of her life on the front lines of the Crimean War, ministering to the wounded, caring for soldiers, and making her mark on the world of medicine. This fascinating biography honors her life, from her childhood in Kingston, Jamaica, and her encounters with racist Americans to her treatment of cholera patients in Panama and her bitter run-in with Florence Nightingale, who declined to work with her in Crimea because she wasn’t White. But Mary Seacole knew that the sick and wounded needed her compassion and care.
