Publisher's Summary

Ever since I was a child growing up in England I have been fascinated by castles: their history, the part they have played in the development of England through the centuries, the magnificent architecture and feats of ancient engineering and construction. Not only that, castles are great places to visit for a day trip to learn more about them and see the spectacle.
So I have created this audiobook, Castles in England: A Travellers' Guide, to give you a look at 20 of my personal favourite castles so you can learn about them. And perhaps you can take a few in, whether you live in England and looking for interesting places to visit or are perhaps on holiday in England from abroad and would like to see some proper British history.
Some of the featured castles are listed below, though 20 are included in my book. Whether you are planning on a visit to England or just have an interest in English history then you should enjoy Castles in England: Travellers' Guide.
Here are just some of the English castles you will hear about inside:

Chester Castle
Dover Castle
Deal Castle
Richmond Castle
St Mawes
And another 14 more English castles
So many more castles in England, I may write more books about them in the future. Download your copy today and start listening!

Invaluable guide.

What made the experience of listening to Castles in England the most enjoyable?

If you are interested in castles and are contemplating a holiday in a particular area of England, or indeed live there and fancy an interesting day out, this book is an invaluable asset. And, the castles reviewed, are evenly spaced throughout England.

What did you like best about this story?

Not only does this book contain a wealth of historical and factual information about each of the castles it reviews, it also gives the listener essential, practical information about opening times, bus and rail times and routes, car parking and much more. If the castles are near to each other it advises whether it would be possible to visit the two together on the same day and offers an insight into the surrounding areas and towns the castles are situated in.

What does Phillip J. Mather bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The quintessentially English voice of the narrator, Phillip Mather compliments the subject of this book perfectly.

Any additional comments?

This is an excellent audiobook and a real travellers’ guide to 20, of the many castles in England.
