Publisher's summary

History has always been written by the victor, but in the shadows, history has been manipulated by an ancient Guild of Time Assassins.

Rick Brewer, assassin's apprentice, is sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. He escapes to a distant past and, stranded in time, seeks revenge against the Guild by creating instability in the time-line by choosing powerful targets - the Presidents of the United States of America.

Reginald Mayweather is a ruthless business tycoon and not one to accept no as an answer, but when a business prospect fails, he demands the help of the Assassin's Guild to eradicate the competition by killing his competitor's ancestors. If successful, it could prove disastrous to the time-line on a global scale.

Jason Lassiter joined the Assassin's Guild because he wanted to experience history first-hand. Little does he know that his future, and the future of the Guild, rests in his hands.

Time travel and history are mashed up again!

Hannah does a fine job of explaining historical "anomalies" in this creative take on time travel. Brush-ups with famous figures and events are combined with action and intrigue, in one of the more entertaining offers I have listened to in some time.

The performance is above average as well, with consistent, powerful characters that unfold as the story does.

Hight recommended, esp. for Time Travel fans.

Fantastic Book

I read this book when it was first released. An outstanding mix of time travel sci-fi and accurate historical fiction... mixed with action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can't recommend this enough. NOW, with this audio format, I get to experience it again, and just allow the movie to play in my head

fun story

I forcefully read through most stories I start. sometimes I regret it. some stories I dont have to force myself to read or listen to. it just happens naturally because I enjoy the story. I gave this 5 stars because it was one of the latter. I highly recommend this book but recommend you pay close attention to the POV switches. if you can track it, it's a hell of a read. I will definitely be listening to the rest of the series. I could see this being made into a movie adaption. it has all the moving parts including a great ending that feels like closure but leaves wiggle room for a sequel. great job!

Thrilling & thoughtful

We enjoyed this exciting thought provoking journey! There were a few slow spots, but you need those to understand the timelines and politics. We discussed alot of the what-if scenarios, especially the King assassination. In the end, I really want to thank you for getting history right.

Great story! Fantastic narration!

This is a very good story with a twist on traditional time travel novels. The author clearly knows his history extremely well, because he is able to take that knowledge and make very intricate, believable alternate timelines for his characters to resolve. The story’s characters are well-developed, and very interesting. The story itself is very fascinating, and I found myself frequently unable to put the book aside.

The narrator is also excellent at what he does. His different voices for the characters definitely bring them to life, and he really makes you believe you’re listening to the characters you have visually formulated in your mind. To me that’s the best mark of a good narrator; if they can make what you hear from them merge seamlessly with the visuals you create in your head, it’s perfect.

In full disclosure, I met the author and learned of his books at a science fiction convention in Huntsville, Alabama a couple of weekends ago, and after talking to him, I was intrigued about his stories and bought this book from Audible. I didn’t even get halfway through it before I had bought the second novel in the series, knowing I would love it also.

You can’t go wrong with this book. If you love time travel stories as I do, as well as science fiction and military/action stories, then this book is for you. It has the right combination of all of those elements. It is well told and well read. I highly recommend it.

Assassins, Presidents, Action, and Historial Accur

This was a fantastic story, with a great narration. It's a compelling story of assassins who travel through time to prevent bad things from happening in our history. The author does a brilliant job with historical accuracy, some events I didn't know about and were intriguing enough for me to want to do further research. The concept of the story is, there is one rouge assassin apprentice to goes back into time and messes with the timeline, and they have to catch the person before they mess up too much. It seems to focus a lot on assassinations of presidents for this book. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of the series, and am waiting for the rest to come out in audio.

Great story line...needs writing polish.

Really enjoyed the story line and mix with history a great premise. Writing a bit underwhelming and clipped. Needs some character enhancement and polish. Action scenes could use some additional expansion. Feels like a first book. An editor would help some.

I got the feeling I would write like this when listening to the story. I am not a writer which is evident by my review. A great try with experience these will definitely get better.

Look forward to the follow-up!

First Rate Surprise

I found myself wondering if i wanted to be a cleaner or an assassin. I love stories that are able to bring into part of the whole picture. The story is first rate. The story was able to attend my love of history and suspense. Great book
