Publisher's summary

Part-time demon tracker, full-time optimist...

Talia White does what comes naturally to a unicorn: balances the scales between light and dark with hefty doses of love and joy. Faced with a string of high-profile demon possessions, Talia is determined to do her job, despite the fact that she finds herself strapped with a brooding dragon warrior as her new guardian.

That's the trouble with unicorns - they'll accomplish their goals one way or another, even if they have to get a little stabby to do it.

not too bad, better than expected

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was an interesting book. It was kind of funny, the story line was interesting but it was a bit heavy handed on the sex part. That said, I still found that I rather enjoyed the listen. The narrator is pretty good and helped it come alive in my imagination. I'd be open to more in the series.

Peppy unicorn and her dragon protector

Amanda Lyn here again from your favorite romance audiobook review source, Sounds Like Romance.

Don't let the optimism overwhelm you--this paranormal rom-com has great pacing and a cast of characters that round out a fresh approach to the genre.

For me, I wanted to see Talia (our resident unicorn shifter) have a harder time, maybe struggle a little more both inwardly and outwardly. Instead, she was very good at rationalizing each scenario and situation which makes for great reality... and a flat conflict. Bryn was a solid foil to the sparkles and rainbows that practically oozed from our heroine but I never really understood his insta-love for her and the sex scenes, while sexy and well-written, didn't seem to fit well within the flow of the narrative. (This coming from a listener who looooooves her sex scenes, ya'll.)

However! Melissa Schwairy knocks it out of the park with her performance and takes a story (and a main character) I wasn't in love with and made me listen to the very end. She juggled a variety of tones and voices with excellent consistency and approached the narrative with a clear voice that made me need to know how the story wrapped up.

For audiobook lovers looking for PNR with a light tone and the beginning of what looks like a continuing series, this may be just the book for you.

Unicorn Shifter

Talia is a Unicorn shifter Demon Hunter who acts like a prepubescent teen. She has been sheltered and therefore very immature for her age. I enjoyed the overall story line however the over usage of the word a**hat had me cringing - seriously there are so many adjectives there is no reason to use a single word that many times. The narrator does a great job bringing the story and characters to life. I would consider reading more in this series.

Rainbows and sunshine

Story was advancing slowly but storyline was good, then out of no where... SEX, SEX, SEX, SEX... a breeze, SEX, few words.. SEX... its like a fire was ignited and the volcano could not be put out.. just out of nowhere they were doing it.. there in danger.. why not bone.. like what the crap.. about half was just them banging... I think the author had a good story, could have been a sweet story of love.. but wanted filler so they filled it with sex...Demons, fae, unicorns, dragons, and mystery creatures that are uncovered at the end, all had a interesting twist and story...but drowned under constant intercourse..

Fun and quirky listen.

You’ve never met anyone quite like Talia and her group of friends. Plenty of humor, romance, action, and optimism in this fun listen. I loved the narrator, she really captured the character’s personalities, especially Talia’s. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Can a dragon and unicorn save Nashville?

Super cute PNR rom-com, with the emphasis on cute!

DT Dyllin is a new-to-me author, but I'll be looking for more Team Unicorn after enjoying this audio version. This story includes a reluctant sexy dragon warrior, a unicorn shifter who likes to bake, demonic Girl Scouts and other magical creatures running rampant through....Nashville. Yes, Nashville.

I totally enjoyed Talia and Bryn's story as the battle evil and the passion binding them together. Bryn's strength and skepticism is the perfect foil for Talia's perpetual optimism...even when things don't work out quite like she planned. My favorite thing about stories like this are the mix of everyday life mixed with magical elements.

Melissa Schwairy does an outstanding job narrating this story, capturing Talia's upbeat, lively personality, along with the other characters in the book. I finished the audiobook in one day, so entranced and captivated by every element. Definitely a recommended read for fans of bright and breezy PNR romances.

So Much Fun!

What a great story! This story is such a fun fantasy and full of mystical beings. The narration was superb and gave that extra flair to the story. It will keep you entertained. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I will be reading any books that are released in this series (can't wait). Yes unicorns!

I have always loved unicorns especially when they become a big part of something hello Legend and Last Unicorn. For me this book did not disappoint Talia is a unicorn that lives in a human body and tasked with hunting demons. She was raised by a dragon guardian who than leaves for her full time one. She has a funny mermaid best friend that thinks she is fey. I loved Talia’s optimism and that she felt real with having a hard time with accepting a new guardian and her emotions. Makes me happy to have a book where literally a unicorn is the main character.

Light romance in supernatural setting

Most of the other reviewers have given this story a higher rating than me, my review will likely be in the minority. I was interested in the story and how the author set us up for the arrival of Talia's new guardian. I enjoy supernatural/paranormal romances and was looking forward to reading about a dragon/unicorn shapeshifter pairing. But I think that there were two things that made this story less appealing to me, personally. First, I couldn't reconcile Talia's immature/self-centered behaviour with the fact that she's 30 years old - especially since she's a unicorn that has essentially been in hiding all her life (it seems to me that she shouldn't be as impulsive as she seems to act for most of the story). She does some *really* immature things when it comes to her interactions with her new guardian, making me think that I would have enjoyed the story more if she were portrayed as an 18- or 19- year old rather than a 30-year old. Second, I prefer my heros to be a little more alpha-male and confident than this hero was. I confess, I think that I'm ruined when it comes to dragon shapeshifters, because Thea Harrison's Drago dragon-shifter resonated with me as incorporating an ideal blend of passion, agelessness, aggressiveness, and indulgence towards his mate. (Ironically, Drago's mate in the Thea Harrison series is a unicorn and I fell in love with her feistiness. So if I were being honest with myself, I think I was doing a sub-conscious comparison to the last dragon/unicorn series that I'd hugely enjoyed. I think that I would have done less of this sub-conscious comparison if Talia were a teenage unicorn rather than a 30 year old one; her attitudes and behaviours would have been more sensible if she were younger.

As for the narration, again, the narrator's voice was young-sounding and perfect for what I imagined to be a young-lady/unicorn who is still growing up and maturing. I increased the playback speed slightly and have no complaints about the quality of the narration - she did an excellent job with this audiobook!
