Publisher's summary

I was supposed to start college next year, but after being given a ticket to Cairo as a high school graduation present, I skipped the ceremony and jumped on the plane. My name is Mary Fallon. I'm 18 years old, and for as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by ancient Egypt. I could never have imagined the experiences awaiting me here in the ancient land of the pharaohs, including having my first lucid dream. You see, I'm discovering that Spiritual Warfare isn't a video game but the reality we live in, both awake and asleep. You won't find the front lines on any map, because the battles are fought in our hearts and minds, and some of them can be dangerously enjoyable. It's a good thing I'm not fighting alone.

Author's Note: The books in this series are based on real dreams and experiences.

The Spitit of Imhotep:Lucid Dreams & Spititual War

Audiobook: The Spirit of Imhotep ( Lucid Dreams & Spiritual Warfare, Book 1
This was a very interesting audiobook. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a little interactive. I loved the idea of lucid dreaming and how this was woven into the story. For me it started out a little slow but picked up fairly quickly. I love where Maria Isabel Pita is going with this series and hope to listen to more of it. I especially enjoy the overall themes of her books.

Narration: I love that Maria Isabel Pita narrated her own audiobook. She has a beautiful voice and displays not only a wonderful ability to write but also excellent voice acting skills. Definitely recommended.

Deeply spiritual

This is a hard freview for me to write. I listened to this book days ago, and just tried to think about it so that I said everything correctly, I didn't want any confusion. This book was not what I expected. I was really slotted to read about some ancient mummy, and hat is not what I got.

This book is very spiritual, and it is more about revelations, awakenings, and finding oneself. The setting is so spot on I would have to guess that Pita has visited Egypt, or spent a lot of quality time in a museum or two checking out the Egyptian exhibits. Her character, Mary, goes through significant changes upon her arrival in the cradle of Civilization. You walk the path beside her, experiencing everything she does, and I'd like to think growing along with her too. There is some romance, and that's ok. That is really not my flavor of stuff, I prefer guns blazing and swords slicing, but it didn't beat me over the head and it was enjoyable.

Doubling up as narrator as well was a good idea. Pita is Mary. She lays everything out vocally, and holds nothing back. She is almost playing Mary as herself, because it is so believable. I don't know if she has narrated before, but she could do someone else's work justice. Maybe a good side job for her.

Anyway, this book is deep, emotional, spiritual, and waiting for you to listen.

A well written beginning of Mary's adventure

I enjoyed reading the details of Mary's travels in Egypt and felt it was somewhat culturally and historically educational about the country. I also liked that there are dreams in the book and now I want to learn more about lucid dreaming. This story has a romance and religious aspects that grow more central as the story develops. The characters are real and I can imagine everyone of them!

Fills you mind and senses

Would you consider the audio edition of The Spirit of Imhotep to be better than the print version?

I only have the audio book and its a very rich experience

What did you like best about this story?

The blend of physical and spiritual realms in a believable way, delivered by Maria in a voice that is liquid gold.

Which scene was your favorite?

The very end...... not telling.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Filled my senses and encouraged several lucid dreams

Any additional comments?

Where to start, I got this book and my first thoughts being that it might be aimed at a younger audience and most likely female and so started listening with some apprehension on what to expect.
It was a pleasant surprise to find that I was partly right and so very wrong. The story develops in an interesting way with a young female and the opportunity she is offered, is loaded with false leads, historical fact and supported with a good dose of entertainment and suspense. There are elements of lucid dreaming that hold my interest, and these are woven into the story in a way that is interesting and like the story itself leads on into deeper themes and thoughts.
I listen to audio books on long drives and found it hard to avoid playing this one on the shorter daily trips around town but did manage to save it for the longer drives. The Spirit of Imhotep was a great listen and as expected Maria’s voice is liquid gold and made for a lovey experience.
The weaving of dreams and lucid dreaming into the plot makes for added interest and as a dreamer the story seeded some nice lucid dreams. One very special dream of religious significance appeared to me a little before I heard it narrated in the book and this was a high point of another winner from Maria
Book one of a series, keen to follow on as the rest are available and see how Mary copes with a lot more physical and spiritual challenges

Compelling Tale of Life, Land and Lucid Dreams

Fascinating book that lures you in with the author's vast knowledge of Egypt's history. Really enjoyed the Maria's narration. Her spirited recount of experiences while in Egypt brought the vivid descriptions to life.

While listening, you feel as if you're right there by Maria's side. You see the tombs, artifacts, sunrises and feel the stifling desert day. In addition, many interesting facts are revealed along the way; like why the Egyptians are drawn in a two-dimensional manner.

Because Maria is a confident narrator, she blurs the line between consciousness and sleep. At first, I found the lucid dreams to have more of a faery-tale quality ~ as if they were a montage of future hopes and wishes.

After hearing further dreams, their significance is evident. Think of them as a map ~ historical, physical and spiritual.

If you ever wanted to visit Egypt, you may wish to start with "The Spirit of Imhotep: Lucid Dreams & Spritual Warfare, Book 1"

The expected unexpected so good!!!

I was skeptical about receiving this book for free. Soon after I started listening , I was overly excited to find out the plot. Not only is Mary a likable protagonist she is very believable as the person she turned out to be. Although she feels attracted to Richard she doesn’t feel the overwhelming love is in her dreams and her dreams are vivid. Will Richard be the man of her dreams and let’s not forget about Simon her good friends boss. He has the same interest as Mary, but Who is knowledge for exceeds occurs but is that enough to save Mary or is she Richards forever? I recommend this book to anyone who is into the old Egyptian kingdom or the new, and those who love romance novels that are not necessarily predictable. I thought this book was really good! The narrator was good the plot was good it was a good or rather great book.

Stick with this story...

This audiobook is interesting. I almost can’t put words to it . It’s not what you would expect and it’s different from just about everything else I’ve listened to. I felt like it was a little slow in the beginning but it gets better . I just had to stick with it a bit. The narration was great.

Great narration

I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest review. While this is a well written story with impeccable narration, I didn't care for it due to it's numerous religious overtones. I'm not a religious person so it didn't appeal to me.
