Publisher's summary

It's true that Anna Trent is a supervisor in a chocolate factory...but that doesn't necessarily mean she knows how to make chocolate. And when a fateful accident gives her the opportunity to work at Paris's elite chocolatier Le Chapeau Chocolat, Anna expects to be outed as a fraud.

After all, there is a world of difference between chalky, mass-produced English chocolate and the gourmet confections Anna's new boss creates. But with a bit of luck and a lot of patience, Anna might learn that the sweetest things in life are always worth working for.

Hopeful, laugh-out-loud funny, and irresistibly addictive, The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris is a novel worth savoring.

Chocolate and Paris❤️

This was the the best book for me right now during the pandemic. Sweet and lovely, surprising depth. Took me back to Paris.

Paris sounds lovely but

The people (except the flatmate who is not Parisian) were not nice. The author was super hung up on fat people (pretty much anyone who's not a chic French person or any woman with a bosom) all the way through the book. It was jarring at times. The formulaic surprise relationship was just not important. I agree with another reviewer who said the second half felt really rushed.

Full disclosure - I am fat and it was easy to imagine that the book is accurate and people in France will hate me and that's important to the story. It made me imagine visiting France knowing everyone will be disgusted by me but I stuck with the book because maybe it was important to the story. I tried to imagine that calling someone a walrus while they're lying in a hospital bed was important to the story. I tried to not be defensive but it was really did seem unnecessary. I won't read more by this author.

Such a tug at the heart strings

I don’t know where I was supposed to have stated on Jenny Collagan’s books, but this was another great. Listening to her books is like watching a Hallmark movie. Even though you think just how it is going to go there a twist.

Heartwarming

Over all a precious story. Unexpected and unlikely friendship that brings fun heartwarming blessings all around. It is odd to me that the main character seems so so so naive. She claims to want adventure but has to be led every step. But then, I am a traveler.

A Sweet Story That I Needed

After so many business books rotating with apocalypse stories it was refreshing to listen to a story of humans at our best, loving each other and growing through experience.

Enjoyable listen

Interesting story combining one woman’s past with another woman’s present. It was also interesting to learn a little more about the world of chocolate making. I enjoyed listening to Anna become herself.
