Publisher's Summary

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of 17 princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most - a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian's heart to the Sea Queen and or remain a human forever.
The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby - it's his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she's more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good - but can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind's greatest enemy?

A Little Mermaid retelling with lots of twists

I loved! I couldn't stop listening to it, it has everything, magic, sirens, princes and kingdoms, pirates, political games, romance and adventure.
It shows how the way a person is raised may affect her attitudes, and how anyone can change .
Life is something else entirely, you start the book thinking she's a monster, with seventeen hearts under her bed, that she only desires death and lives nothing but herself and her future kingdom, but as the book continues, you realise that that's the way she was raised to think, and her time with the pirates change her, to something she had it in herself but never acted on it.
And that's without mentioning Elian!!!! OMG! what a charming Prince! I always loved Eric, but Elian has a way with words... And his banters with Life were funny but cute at the same time, he's a Prince that doesn't want to be a king, he wants to be a pirate and travel the world, he's a gentleman but at the same time kind of a scoundrel, and it's so beautiful the way he treats his crew... He's a rebel, but will sacrifice anything for his people, even his own freedom .
aaaaand last, let me tell how I was truly frightened with the sea queen and its creatures. With her tentacles and blood eyes and her desire for death and destruction and violence.
The author made a great work of creating a world with magic, fairy tales, and yet violence and politics and real people with magic.
One of my favorite books of all time!!
