Publisher's summary

My best friend was now my deadliest enemy, the one person I'd hate beyond all measure for the rest of my life.…

Franny Barker's best friend, Alice, is the worst girlfriend in the world according to the many boys of Merrycliffe-on-Sea. She toys with them, then dumps them. But she'll never dump fashion-obsessed Franny. Nothing and no one can come between them. Until Alice, jealous of Franny's new college friends, sets her sights on Louis. Suddenly, best friends are bitter rivals. Is winning Louis's heart worth more than their friendship?

Coming of age story

Good story, with the characters brought to life well by the narrator....more for young adult readers

Sarra Manning creates lovabale characters

The first book I read cover to cover was Guitar Girl, by Sarra Manning. If you are looking for something more like 'You don't have to say you love me.' This isn't it. The Worst Girlfriend in the World is a typical coming of age novel about a lovable retro girl named Franny B. Franny and her friend Alice have been inseparable since birth and although Franny loves Alice she knows that Alice has the reputation for stealing boyfriends.
Franny has been in love with Louis the front man of the desperados, a crappy rock band. When Alice decides to start dating older boys she sets her sights on Louis. Blindsided, Franny doesn't understand why Alice would do to her, what she has done to many girls in the past. When Franny finally starts mobbing forward with Louis she realizes that he wasn't the guy she had projected all of her wishes of who Louis was into something Louis could never be. Will Franny continue with Louis or will she find something better?

If you love Sarra Manning read this. The narration is absolutely wonderful and I really enjoyed the book.

Any additional comments?

I love Sarra Manning. Even though this was more of a young adult book, I still found I really enjoyed this story. The characters are really well written and likable. I really liked Franny!!
