Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. This was a really cute story and kept my attention the whole time I listened. Although there were no surprises, it left me wanting more.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to go with the Dowager. The fact that she was tricking Trey and Judith into thinking she was ill, all because she had wanted the two of them to get together. Priceless.

What does Valerie Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator seems to be growing on me. While I still have issues with her randomly pausing while speaking, the variety of accents she does...amazing! She has her own unique way of speaking for each character. When I first started audiobooks, I thought it would be better have at least two narrators (woman for female characters/man for male characters), this narrator does a great job to where I almost forget that it's a male character speaking.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wanted to listen to it in a single sitting. Of course, I wasn't able to. But any free time I had I was listening to find out what would happen to the characters.

Any additional comments?

I'm definitely interested in reading/listening to more stories by Mary Higgins.

entertaining historical romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this is quite entertaining read for anyone who enjoys historical romance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Trey was probably my favorite character, he had been through hell and back but was still willing to fight for love that he wasn't sure he wanted.

Which character – as performed by Valerie Gilbert – was your favorite?

Our heroine, simply for the fact that it's the main female lead and much more believable. The narrator did an excellent job pulling at the end of the story but as my first audio book I still struggle hearing a more feminine voice for males.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Trey finally admitted his need for her love.

Any additional comments?

I was gifted a copy of this book by the narrator Valerie, she did an amazing job bringing the story to life. this is an action packed historical romance, our heroine is left all alone after her parents are killed. and she then signed up for an arranged marriage, however she finds love from an unexpected source. I was surprised at how quickly I was drawn into the story, the author did a great job keeping you on your toes with the plot twists. Can't wait to read book 2.
