Widge is an orphan with a rare talent for shorthand. His fearsome master has just one demand: steal Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" - or else. Widge has no choice but to follow orders, so he works his way into the heart of the Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare's players perform. As full of twists and turns as a London alleyway, this entertaining novel is rich in period details, colorful characters, villainy, and drama.More

It's wonderful when school books...
end up being enjoyable for the whole family. We loved listening to this on audible.com. As a home school mom, I get tired of talking. They get tired of listening to me, I'm certain, too! Here we were able to listen together. Over the course of several rainy afternoons we delighted in the story of Widge and his adventures. We can't wait to read the other two in the trilogy. I only wish they were on audible too. I'm now looking all over audible for school books so I can take a breather and they can enjoy a well-written and well-read story. Loved it!
His voices and the consistency with which he used the various ones. You knew who was talking by the accent he was using early on in the story. I thought that was great. Also, it kept the kids interested (and Dad too, I believe).
