Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author John Flanagan returns to the world of Ranger's Apprentice, beginning a new story arc starring fan favorites, Will and Maddie (Ranger's Apprentice: The Royal Ranger).

Picking up where Ranger's Apprentice: The Royal Ranger left off, this next installment continues the story arc featuring young apprentice, Maddie, and the student-turned-master, Will Treaty. The time has come for the next generation to assume the mantle and become protectors of the kingdom of Araluen.

After passing her third-year assessment as a ranger's apprentice, Maddie is called home to Castle Araluen. Forced to keep her ranger training a secret, Maddie feels trapped by the monotony of castle life and longs to find a way out. But there are whisperings of a new threat to the kingdom. The mysterious Red Fox Clan, a group of anarchists all donning fox masks, have threatened Castle Araluen and question Princess Cassandra and Madelyn's succession to the throne. Will they succeed in unseating Cassandra and Madelyn and take the throne for themselves?

Best-selling author of the Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband series, John Flanagan returns in the captivating follow-up to The Royal Ranger. Perfect for fans of Tolkien, Redwall, and Game of Thrones!

Excellent 2nd Installment

The only complaint I have is that I finished it too quickly and now I have to wait for the next book!

Continues to Entertain

After years of reading these books, it still throws me off to hear the narrator's voice choices for many of the characters. That's a personal problem, however, and i didn't reflect it on my rating. The first and second parts of this particular story weren't his BEST, but he clearly still has his world-building touch. At first, like other listeners, I was a tad annoyed at the extensive conversations between Mad and her horse. However, it soon dawned on me that she isn't like other Rangers. She's not shy and quiet, and her mind must not be either, therefore i didn't reflect it on my rating either.
P.S. Buy both books if you don't like cliff hangers.

I truly enjoy these series by Mr. Keeting. He makes the main caracter exhibit strong moral atribtes while still showing there human side.

love the story. could do without the terrible...

terrible voice! love the story though. the guy is just super inconsistent with the voices and also makes women sound helpless and idiotic even though they are supposed to be powerful characters.

I'm furious it ended!!!

such a good book. I didn't like the idea of princess Madelyn becoming the protagonist I'm miss halt the most but he and will made these books. But Flanagan has made me love yet another character. On top of that this book is non stop action and I couldn't wait to hear more!

Such a good continuation of the original Ranger Apprentice series

I loved how it kept me on edge the whole book, John perfectly cast the attention from will to Maddy.

Amazing!!!

Warning: this story is a to be continued. So keep that in mind when you listen to it.

That out of the way, this is close to the best of the Ranger’s Apprentice books! It kept me enthralled the whole time!!! The narrator is really good but the story is captivating & takes you on an amazing adventure!!!!

You will not be disappointed!!!!
