Publisher's Summary

Alice is 11 years old, and it is wartime. She is on a train with no seats, no lights, and no sanitary facilities. Her parents and her grandmother are missing, and Alice doesn't know where she is going. Maybe she will get to play outside again, or maybe she will see her parents. But as the train rolls on, Alice begins to realize that just when you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do.

What the Critics Say

"Do we need another book about the Holocaust? Yes, if it is as good as this one. This is not a book for [young] children, but teens and adults will find it compelling." (Booklist)

this book provided so much information about what it was like to live as a Jew during this time very very sad and very revealing about how childish and kind-hearted these people were and how they were betrayed people they thought we're trying to help them or needed their help.
