Publisher's summary

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.

The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes.

The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.

meh

If you enjoyed the story about the prodigal son, this is a good modern / fantasy twist to it. Entertaining read, but might not be something i remember in 5 years...

Awesome

I couldn't turn it off. I was up all night. But sleeping through class was worth it.

This needs to be a show or movie

I read this book back in high school and was instantly hooked, as soon as the I finished I searched for the other books. There were parts of it that needed work, but overall I loved it.

Original, thought provoking and clean

Loved this book. I liked the characters and related to their issues. Narration was fantastic . This is one your kids can listen to and you won't blush. Lol

Too childish

The story is nice, and the characters were good, but it was simply too childish. At times I wished to shake the main character and yell at her to wake up. Half way I figured out the main twist of this story and was hoping the main character would do it as well.
