Prepare to be swept off your feet by The Crown - the eagerly awaited, wonderfully romantic fifth and final book in the Selection series.
In The Heir, a new era dawned in the world of The Selection. Twenty years have passed since America Singer and Prince Maxon fell in love, and their daughter is the first princess to hold a Selection of her own.
Eadlyn didn't think she would find a real partner among the Selection's 35 suitors, let alone true love. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you...and now Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more difficult - and more important - than she ever expected.

Good Commute Book

Was The Crown worth the listening time?

To give context to my review, I'm a 27 year old grad student. I still love young adult and teen books. Why not? I read so much for my dissertation already. I adored the first 3 books of the series. There's something about Eadlyn that makes her very drab to me. I find myself having trouble paying attention when trying to listen at home. Of course in traffic, it's interesting enough. There's probably a better book out there to spend my credit on. Not every book is going to be a home run. I figured it's worth finishing the series.

One of my favorite series comes to an end

STORY - I have eagerly listened to all five books in this series. I love the dystopian society, the palace setting, the competition, the catfights between contestants and, of course, the romance. I'm sad to see it come to an end. While I enjoyed this book, I must say that Eadlyn's story (Books 4 & 5) is nowhere near as good as the first three books. IMHO, a lot of the magic is missing. Can't really put my finger on why, except to say that Eadlyn's story seems to be less of a romance and more about her personal growth from a spoiled brat into a queen. That said, I loved the ending and I'm ecstatic that my guy won in the end!

PERFORMANCE - Brittany Pressley is great. She reads pretty slowly, so I turned the speed up and she still sounded great!

OVERALL - Recommended for any female who watches The Bachelor/Bachelorette series on TV, but start with Book 1 and go through Book 3 to hear the story of Maxon and America. (You'll love them!) If you're interested only in Eadlyn's selection, start with Book 4. There is no violence, cursing or sex, so this entire series would be fine for younger listeners. Girls only!
