Publisher's summary

In this wonderful tale written by the somewhat mysterious author Honolulu Polkadot, you will follow the young Scarecrow Straw Stickpost as he discovers that he has been chosen to do more than he ever thought himself capable of. Only if he can find courage and faith can he succeed in rising to his calling.

In a world full of the hateful doctrine of the Ashfolk, bounty-hunting Skabb pirates, ship-hungry sea creatures, and steam-powered beasts, Straw must face his most horrifying fears and rise to be what he is destined to become.

A grand adventure with friends!

Would you consider the audio edition of Straw and the Doctrine of the Ashfolk to be better than the print version?

The audio version really puts you into the world of Straw and friends, but the material stands on it's own merit. It would be enjoyable either way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Straw and the Doctrine of the Ashfolk?

I remember at one point all of the gang were runny from these sharp, whirling, flying weapons and I found myself holding my breath! The descriptions were so real I felt like I needed to be running too. I was sitting up in my chair with my eyes wide open until they escaped the danger!

Which character – as performed by Travis Marshall IV – was your favorite?

Bammy was my favorite. She was so sweet and innocent but with a little fire in her when the time came for it. I just loved how loyal and darling she was.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wasn't able to but I definitely wanted to. I hate putting down something good when you get all into the story!

Any additional comments?

I truly enjoyed this little adventure among some great friends. There was intrigue and power struggles to make things so very interesting, but most of all there was heart. A good story leaves you trusting the protagonists and wishing they complete what is best for their character. When that ultimate goal turns out to be a marriage of what you wished for and what you never knew you needed to explore, the reward is all the sweeter.
