Publisher's summary

Tree, a six-foot-three-inch twelve-year-old, copes with his parents' recent divorce and his failure as an athlete by helping his grandfather, a Vietnam vet and recent amputee, and Sophie, a new girl at school. Newbery Honor-winning author Joan Bauer's story, packed with memorable characters and her trademark humor, is about finding purpose in tough times. And it's about Tree's giant heart, not his giant size, making him a hero.

Undescribably Awesome book!

"...we need a blow torch!" was a very memorable part. Everyone around Tree became more able to stand tall. Enjoy listening to this humorous fun-filled story focusing on a 7th grader's family, and all the stuggles of his life.

Divorce from a middle schooler's perspective A++

This story feels timeless in its ability to provide empathy for what divorce might feel like from a male entering his teenage year's perspective. It does not preach or prescribe, but rather demonstrates the awakening of understanding and journey of resiliency. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality story with great characters. Essential for American families dealing with new divorce.

Delightful

I realize this author’s books are intended for young adults, but I can’t get enough of them. This was my 3rd and I can’t wait to “read/hear” another.
