Dannng!

So I'm not going to lie...... I had never read anything from Leigh Bardigo before, so understanding the Grisha stuff was difficult at the beginning for me. The names of places, gangs, descriptions, and people threw me off, and for the first few chapters, I questioned listening further.

But!!!!! When the plot started to pick up, it shot straight up, and I was enthralled.
I ended up really liking this book, and frustrated when it ended. The sequel cannot come soon enough!!!

Nina and Inej were my favorites (though, I'm a lady, so that isn't very surprising), but I still liked how each character had an intricate web of a background. At first, the many characters was confusing and frustrating, but again, that quickly changed :)

Bravo! I loved it.

Some What Annoying Reading

This story captures your attention quickly and then lights your imagination on fire as it opens a colorful and deliciously textured world for your listening pleasure. The way different cultures are used, the character development, and the action packed adventure of it all will keep you on your toes. I did not, however, appreciate the way the different voice actors were used, which is why I gave this book a mediocre performance score. Rather than having each of the actors voice their own character through the entire reading, one actor would read through an entire chapter at a time and voice all of the characters that appear in that chapter. This made things slightly confusing at some points, and I found this style to be against my personal taste.

Love all the narrators

It is so great to listen to a book with multiple narrators, each one did a fantastic job and it was refreshing.
What a great listen, I was quickly caught up in the story and can't wait for the next book!

Ocean's 11 with teenagers

The switch between voice actors was surprising. Multiple actors speak for the different characters so there were probably six voices for one character.

The author switched POV so often to assist the grand scheme suspense. It was usually told by the POV of the person who didn't know what was happening.

Kaz was a little too jaded for me, but I thought the overall story was very fun. I could imagine it being a made into an Ocean's 11-type film.

One of the BEST audiobooks I’ve listened to!!!

A total THRILL RIDE!!! What an amazing ensemble audiobook!

I loved this YA, fantasy heist story. It moved well, all of the characters were deeply intriguing, and I never knew who to trust. I especially liked that I had no idea what came next.

This is set in a world created by an earlier set of books by the same author. I don’t feel as if I lost anything not reading those.

I did like that fact that even though the characters were paired up in MF fashion, there was a nascent and flirty MM pairing—fabulous! I’m hoping that these two will play a role in the next book.

Ahhh, the next book. It’s a must because this one ends in a serious cliffhanger!!

FYI: I’ve already purchased the audiobook for the sequel and can’t wait to start it!

Captivating but Unfinshed

Captivating story and excellent narrators, but the end is incomplete. Readers are required to read the second book in the series to find out what happens to all of the characters. For this reason, I would have given 4 1/2, stars, but it wasn't an option.

good story and great readers.

This book was great and as soon as I was finished, I grabbed the next book. The story ended at a place I could not let go. I had to find out what happened to the group next. I fell into the characters and felt part of their group as they plotted their heist. It was realistic, yet with just a hint of really? I really enjoyed it. worth my credit for sure. highly recommend. #fantasy #Nostalgic #betrayal #TorturedHero #revenge #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Great story not so great narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

this is a hard question for me. I enjoyed the story but I was not a fan of all the different narrators. It made it hard to follow from time to time.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love it when I don't see something coming. This book has a few moments that I did n't see coming. I don't want to give anything away so I'm not going to say more.

An Absolutely, Amazing Book!

I can't believe it took me this long to find and read this book! It's a heist book with fantasy, humor, and romance. Even though these teenagers are criminals, you want them to win! The ending will make you laugh for 5 minutes straight! The only thing I didn't like was a few of the narrators. Their performance was great, but they sounded MUCH older than 18 year olds. I would recommend this book to fans of the Mortal Instruments, Throne of Glass, and of course Leigh's first trilogy. This book has become one of my all time favorite books!
