Publisher's summary

Popular author Gordon Korman pens a funny fish-out-of-water tale that even the most reluctant reader will find impossible to resist. Capricorn Anderson has spent his entire life on a farm with his hippie grandmother. After an accident puts Grandma in the hospital, Cap is forced to attend Claverage Middle School and live with his guidance counselor. The tradition at Claverage is for students to nominate the biggest nerd for class president, and Cap is the obvious choice. But with his odd ways and positive outlook, Cap just might turn the joke upside down by becoming the best class president ever.

Great Book, Cool Concept!

I like this book. The concept of someone growing up outside of society and then rejoining is interesting. However, there is no pause between one chapter ending and the next one starting. I feel like that is a odd thing to say, but it really does throw you off a little.

Loved it!

Great concept! Accurate portrayal of teens and their peers. Loved the idea of introducing someone to that middle school environment who was completely unfamiliar with that setting. Great performance.

A kids book I enjoyed

My 6th grader had to read this for her summer assignment. We decided to "read" it together in the car as well as in print. This was a good story, and started many family conversations about bullying.

Awesome!

A full cast gives a great performance. I enjoyed the journey Capricorn goes through to learn about the modern world and the ups and downs of middle school.

They is such joy in knowing people who can't get their feathers ruffled.

Omg love it

I love cap gave Sophie the bracelet. I recommend it to everyone. I give it five stars it was so good. But the sad part was when they sold garland. But the happy part is when cap goes back to c average school and see all his eleven hundred friends. And I am 10 years old and I think it is wonderful to read. READ THIS BOOK! And if you see this Gordon Korman please write back. And I want everyone to read it and give it a 5 stars cause it is great - Ava

Laugh Out Loud Hilarity

Listened to this on a long car ride hauling three generations to a family reunion. Everyone was laughing! A funny story with a strong warm human heart beating at the center.
