Publisher's summary

Lani has lived in Hana, Hawaii, for five years. She's learned to surf, fish, dive, and manage her grandmother's bed and breakfast. She's also learned to take one day at a time the way it should be taken - relaxed and unrushed, savoring every moment.

But, like a large wave on the brink of breaking, her life is about to crash out of control. A proposal of marriage, a conniving grandmother, a cryptic Asian woman, and a handsome guest, and suddenly everything calm begins to churn, everything clear becomes confused, and all that was normal segues into peculiar.

As Lani struggles against the current to hold her ground, she realizes that she can either continue to fight and eventually lose, or take a leap of faith, hold her breath, and ride the wave wherever it takes her.

Not Always Happenstance

Not Always Happenstance. I quite enjoyed this book set in Hawaii I do think it could have been a little shorter.

Douchebag love interest

The writing for this book was nice, it's a sweet story and a relatively stress-free read, which is exactly what I was looking for. However, the love interest guy is a total douchebag. He lies to the main character, Lani, and all her friends for months, tries to gaslight her when she calls him on it, then when he does one "redeeming" (read: decent) thing we are supposed to supoort Lani when she flies across the world to get him back? What?

Clean Romance at its best!

Rachael Anderson has done it again! One of my favorites from her. Great characters, fantastic setting descriptions, great story line that kept me ignoring all other responsibilities for the day. A great, clean, contemporary romance.

Sometimes you just want to slap them...

I loved the storyline but at the end I was so frustrated with the Female MC and how the male MC adjusted his work to please her. I thought his justification was right on spot. I wish it was written so the female recognized her narrow mindedness and not make him seem selfish. Otherwise it was great.

Aloha!

A sweet story with beautiful Maui for its setting.
I really liked the mysterious Pearl. She was so wise and always had the perfect words to say at just the right time.
A secretive writer that leaves without saying goodbye (he has commitment issues). A girl that manages a bed and breakfast with her grandmother and is in a long term, long distance relationship. Not the likeliest of people to find out what real love is. No spoilers, you have to read/listen for yourself to find out if they do or don't
This was a fun story to listen to. I loved it!

It Hurts to Say Goodbye

Lani comes to Hana, Hawaii to help her Grandmother get through knee surgery and to help run her B&B. Then life gets complicated and she must decide to trust or run. Which will it be? Wonderful romance of Hawaii and great performance. Recommend.

hmmm

The beginning you find out the male main character goes from place to place breaking hearts. I found it hard to like him. Then he meets girl main character and she will have none of that--getting involved and then him leave. They have a chemistry and like each other. They have to each work out their "stuff" and they go through a few bumps. He ends up doing a sacrificial act and she responds. HEA.
