Adventure, Romance and Mystery in a Unique Fantasy World

I don't know who I am. I don't know what I am. All I know is that I'm being hunted, and this world is not my own.

Lost in a world full of monstrous fairies, a troubled 16-year-old has to find out who she is and why her memories were stolen before she is found by those who want her dead.

She takes the name Memory and knows she has just one goal - to find her way home, wherever that is. But this land is strange. No technology to be seen, and iron is banned thanks to a pact the humans have with the magical creatures who share their Victorian-era world. In her T-shirt and torn jeans, Memory knows she's different even before she performs impossible magic.

Haunted by her past, chased by a dragon, wanted by the king, and stalked by the strange, handsome savage who seems to know her, everyone is after Memory, and she suspects it's not just for her eye-catching outfit. Her forgotten past holds dangerous secrets that will challenge everything she believes and risk the lives of everyone she loves.

Outstanding Fantasy Romance

EM ELDRIDGE did an outstanding job narrating this audiobook. Her voice is perfect for anything. With her beautiful tone, perfect voice inflections, and hint of accent she made me believe this story. She has proven to be a superb reader as well as one of my favorites. To me, she was a great match for the story.

MEMORY'S WAKE was an intriguing fantasy/romance for teens, young adults, or any age. I've learned that it takes a certain way to listen to fantasy novels such as this one. You must listen for world-building, which this had. She found herself lost in a forest with no memory of who she was or how she wound up there. This is where she was given the name Memory or Mem. The supporting characters were well-defined and some likeable, some not so much such as the four roughians named Greasy, Top Hat, Bucktooth, and Giant. She meets Eloryn and Rowen who teach her magic and try to help her find her way. Everything about this story was good.

Overall, I found this story very relaxing and enjoyable and would definitely recommend giving it a listen. SELINA FENECH does a terrific job writing fantasy and I look forward to more from her in the future.

An imaginative read.

Any additional comments?

An imaginative and engaging read.

What would you do if you awoke in a strange place with absolutely no memories of who you are!! Well that's what Memory has to deal with. She awakens to find herself face to face with a girl she doesn't know, a world she never knew existed, no memories of who she is, a savage that seems to know her and an affinity to magic that she never in her wildest dreams would of imagined. She is thrown into a fight for her life with no idea of why she is on the run. What follows is an action packed and engrossing read!

Character wise: Memory is a hard character to grasp at the start because you don't get a sense of who she is. You find yourself on the journey to finding out who she is alongside Memory, which I liked.

Then we have Eloryn. The girl who finds Memory and is on the run from wizards. She has lead a sheltered life and is now on her true path to become who she was meant to. I liked Eloryn, she is a sweet and innocent girl but is brave when needed and helps Memory.

We also have 2 different boys, one is the savage who seems to know Memory and Roen, who is a noble but living in secret. Both of the boys were well written and developed and I loved finding out more about them.

Plot Wise: It's quite slow to start but once it gets going, it really flows. We have magic, mystery, wizards, dragons and plenty of danger to keep everyone satisfied.

The world building was amazing. I loved the world Mem wakes up in and the author describes it perfectly. I loved the different magical beings also.

Anyway, overall I really enjoyed this and loved the audio. Em Eldridge did a great job with the girls and distinguishing between them. She gave each character her all and it showed.

This audiobook is targeted at Young Adults. I believe that it is perfect for this age group.

Listeners will find themselves immersed in a tale of adventure, fantasy, romance and full of fantastic creatures.

Sixteen years old and all alone. She has no idea where she is ... or who she is and has no memories at all. She only knows that someone or something is hunting for her and that the world she has awoken in is not her own.

Lost in a world full of creatures she thought only existed in fiction, the troubled 16-year-old has to find out who she is and why her memories were stolen before she is found by those who want her dead.

She takes the name "Memory" and wants to go home. But, since she doesn't know who or where she is, and there is no technology to be found, trying to get home is going to be extremely difficult.

Memory finds herself caught up in a world full of magic and intrigue.

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and narrator Em Eldritch does an amazing job of distinguishing between multiple characters. She emotes like the professional she is and I would definitely listen to more audiobooks narrated by her. I rate the narration as 5 out of 5 stars.

I believe that young adult fantasy fans will love this audiobook. It would be perfect for them to listen to while at the beach or on a long car ride.

I rate this audiobook as 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

it took me a little to get into it, but then I couldn't stop listening. Selina Fenech builds a vivid world with memorable characters. Em Eldridge brings the book to life on a higher level. it is great to listen to a book when the story and narrator match up. I will definitely be listening to the next book.

BEAUTIFUL SISTER STORY!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Memory's Wake to be better than the print version?

Always is, but I only listened!

What other book might you compare Memory's Wake to and why?

This is unique...in a far away land of magic, royalty and fairies!!!

Which scene was your favorite?

The end where the sisters rescued each other!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I;m not sure, but this would make a wonderful movie!!!

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

This was a very enchanting listen, 2 sisters lost to each other, and finally find one another! Memory is in a different world than Aloryn...and one day the 2 worlds meet...Aloryn has been hidden her whole life because she is royalty, and her mother was murdered...Memory is sucked into this world and has lost all memory of who she is and where she belongs...Well fate has brought these 2 girls back together, and they do not now they are sisters...actually twins! Memory is in odd dress, and Aloryn is all formal...well they have to work together with the help of many others along the way to survive! Really great listen and I definitely want to continue this series!! The Narration was very pleasant too!!

I RECOMMEND...WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT!!!

Memories!

Author Salina Fenech has written a fairytale like story. I truly found myself immersed in this story. I loved the magic the story had in it, the storyline is perfect, and I enjoyed most of the characters. There was a few surprises to along the way which I was thrilled because of these surprises. I never saw them coming. This is one of the best YA stories I've listened to in sometime.

Narrator, Em Eldridge has outdone herself once again. I just listened to one story she narrated but each time I listen she seems to improve. Em always breathes life in every story she does. I especially felt it with this story. I closed my eyes and it felt like I was in the story seeing everything. Absolutely perfect story with a great performance. Prepare to get swept away and caught up in this adventure

Selina Fenech weaves a story worth staying up late for! I have been following her artwork for years, and her storytelling creates Memory's Wake through words like her paintbrush creates a portrait on canvas. I started out with the ebook and thoroughly got swept into The story I couldn't get enough and accomplished little till I read the whole series.

I am so grateful this is available as an audiobook. I have health trouble that makes reading books myself difficult and I rely on audiobooks. This one is wonderfully done and enjoyable, so it's twice as nice.

Let me just say, that I love and so gratefully appreciate that this story is told in third person. So many books these days are told singularly through the limits of first person. Selina has chosen the right way, from my perspective. It is more enjoyable, and we still get to hear Memory's thoughts and perspectives...as well as the other main characters'. Best of it all.

Em Eldridge does a fantastic job narrating this book. A great reader makes or breaks an audiobook, and Em Eldridge was a wonderful choice for the important job of narrator. She creates individual voices for characters and vividly acts and tells Memory's Wake most enjoyably.

I highly recommend this book, and this audiobook, for anyone who loves fantasy, adventure, mystery, and a spark of romance.

Refreshing YA

Any additional comments?

Well, written, Memory’s Wake, is a YA that strays from the monster norm of current trends. Memory is a young girl transported to another world with complete loss of memory. She finds herself immediately bound to a princess hidden from those in power to protect herself. But the time has come for Eloryn to come of out hiding and reclaim her throne.

Memory does remember ipods and cell phones and being attacked in a dark alley. She doesn’t quite fit into another world of magic and dragons, until she does. Protected by a strange man hiding in the shadows and a thief in love with the princess, she feels as if her problems are constantly put on the backburner in favor of Eloryn’s mission.

Memory’s Wake is full of magic, mystery and teenage angst without a complete wallow of despair. It flows from one action-packed scene to another clue to Eloryn’s quest and/or the mystery of Memory’s past.

This is quite an enjoyable listen.
