Publisher's summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling series!

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series, rebellion is rising and allegiances will be tested on every side.

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series, King’s Cage is the third high-stakes installment in the #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series.

And don’t miss War Storm, the thrilling final book in the bestselling Red Queen series!

The performance needed some help..

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?

Some of the narrators made me want to pull my hair out a bit.. it definitely needed some help in the area, so I don't have very positive feelings towards them after listening to this.

Any additional comments?

I think this book was better than the last. I almost didn't continue on after book 2, but I liked book 1 so much, that I figured I'd give it a shot. While the performance was sub-par, the story line was better than the last, and I think that I will still continue to listen to the next book in this series.

Good with good character development

I loved it. She doesn't hesitate to make characters both with good and bad traits. Just like every other book in the series, the cliff hanger in the last chapter is torture.Looking forward to the final book.

Great book!

The only thing that bothered me was the number of times the author chose to use the phrase "in kind." It was at least once every single chapter. I also was not a fan of the actor that read for Cameron, it seemed to read and not acted. Great storyline, though!

Better than book 2

I can't wait for the next book. This book was better than book 2. The ending was a tough one though.

Cameron's voice wasn't great for me

I love the story, it was captivating, but I hate Cameron's narrator. Evangeline's isn't awful but Cameron's grates on my nerves, Cam is so strong and not at all like the voice that portrays her. I wasn't sure if it was my earbuds or the book but Mare's voice at one point seemed to change and I was confused as it was midchapter but it went back to normal.

Performance was the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star book, and it was Cameron's that tempted me from lowering it to 3.

Fantastic Story but...

Amanda Dolan is amazing. Her portrayal of Mare is immaculate. I wish she'd done the entire book, honestly. The person voicing Cameron is god-awful. Instead of sounding like a voice actress trying to entertain, she reads in a bored voice like a mother trying to get her children to fall asleep. She pronounces names and places differently than Dolan and doesn't do any accent. Flat, boring, horrible.

As for the story, I think it's amazing! Yes, we spend a lot of time with Mare trapped with Maven, but how is that boring?

Twists and turns keep you thinking

Good action and well developed characters. My family listened to the first three books on our family drives... very enjoyable.
