Publisher's summary

Dragons. Right.

Teenage girls don't believe in fairy tales, and 16-year-old Elena Watkins was no different - until the night a fairy tale killed her father. Now Elena's in a new world and a new school. The cutest guy around may be an evil dragon, a prince wants Elena's heart, and a long-dead sorcerer may be waking up to kill her. Oh, and the only way Elena's going to graduate is on the back of a dragon of her own.

Teenage girls don't believe in fairy tales. Now it's time for Elena to believe - in herself.

Not Bad

Definitely a teen drama. It got mired down in the angst a bit too much, in my opinion. By the end it had a storyline that has potential to turn into an excellent plot line.

disappointed

Saw the positive reviews, listened to a few seconds and thought why not. I've never returned a book before, but I couldn't take it anymore. The book is way too much about teenage angst and the narrator's accents can be nasally and nearly insulting.

Excellent story

I loved this story and had trouble stopping. I listen as I drive truck and kept listening when I was near the end. lots of highs and lows.
writing was excellent and Erin Moon did a great job with the voices!
This is the story of Elena who lived with her dad and moved every 3 months. Things go wrong one night when he says it's time to move against and they are attacked by Dragons!
Read of Elana as she finds out her dad is a dragon and losses him all in the same night.
Her life gets really interesting when she ends up in a school of Dragons and finds out everything she though was a fairy tale was real!
Best Dragon story ever!!

Couldn't Stop Listening!!

This was a thrilling story from beginning to end. I love Elena's story so far. The only thing the bother me a bit was the way the romance between her and Lucien happened so fast. However, that can just foretell about the future development in their story. Erin Moon's narration is perfect. She voices each character distinctly and makes the story come alive. Can't wait for the next book!!

Surprised by how much I enjoyed this story!

All I can say is that when I first started listening to this story I thought that I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this YA book. I found some of the writing a bit simple and the expressions somewhat childish for teenagers of this age. But I love stories of dragons and lore and quests and destiny, and decided to continue listening. I'm glad I did because I found that I became invested in the characters. Though somewhat predictable I still enjoyed the book and plan on listening to the next one.

Absolute best series I've read!

I have read all the books in this series and it is by far the best series I've ever read! I could not put it down. It has everything humor, suspense, romance, mystery everything. I will recommend these books to everyone! Adrienne Woods did an amazing job putting life and closer to all the characters. And she held your attention from the start to the finish. Best best series ever!

Totally worth my time

as an unpublished author and Christian, I appreciate the mix of religion and fantasy. Books like this are inspiring.

very immature

i can't even count the times that this book made me cringe. also, who edited this?? i noticed several errors throughout the book and am surprised it managed to get published. the narrator did her best with what she had to work with. and i realize the characters are teenagers but damn, they were incredibly immature.

Great start but ...

Full disclaimer: I didn't finish this. I just lost all interest. The opening is very strong with the Dad and the chase and the dragons. I was really hooked. THIS would have been a very good story. It then shifts tones abruptly to a Harry Potter knock off (magical hidden school in a CASTLE for crying out loud). This was hard enough to follow but then the whole bonding of rider and dragon (Eragon) which is done through being lovers if their the same sex (first of all that's really Heteronormative of you). This was just Twilight with Dragons now. When they got to beating the chromatic dragons to keep the evil away I was Fifty Shades of done. The narrator does a good job though. She really made the girls distinct to me. She's not enough to save it though.
