Publisher's Summary

By my family's fame.
Dying to escape the limelight,
And finally, I do.
Being raised as a Jayne, I'm under constant scrutiny. The rock band my brothers formed makes it impossible to stay under the radar. Paparazzi, tabloids, rabid fans - you name it and I've got it. It all makes me sick. But getting shipped off to crazy Aunt Betty's house in my senior year of high school isn't any better. After all, there isn't a stray kid or pet in the world that my aunt wouldn't take in.
Then I meet her. She's cautious, suspicious, and not interested in me at all. But that's fine by me. Sivan Holt may be beautiful and intelligent, but she's nothing I'm looking for.
In my past.
Struggling to feel settled.
And finally, I do.
Growing up in the foster care system, I longed for a sense of belonging. All I wanted was a place to call home.
At the age of 17, I'm finally starting to feel it here. Home.
When he comes along, it unsettles me. I don't want him to ruin everything we've built - everything that matters. Jax Jayne is arrogant, privileged, and I want nothing to do with him. But those green eyes of his keep drawing me in. If I let down my walls, will it be my final undoing?

riveting piece!!!

This is my first fictional audiobook and I’m almost speechless! It was an exceptional book that made me contemplate on love and life. MK came up with characters that have their own interesting personalities that will endear every reader. I’ll surely be checking out her other best-selling books.

A one woman show

I have to give this one 4.5 stars. If you were to look through my library you would notice this is not a typical read for me, but boy oh boy did I love every second of it. This is going to make one helluva rom com movie oneday and I hope it breaks some records lol. It has 2 really sassy and spunky main characters that are really vulnerable throughout this entire story. I couldn't help but root for them. It also has a cast of secondary characters that are well developed and add something to the story as well. It is set up in a rotating 2 POV of our main characters and usually I would have liked a duel narration, but not in this case as the performance was flawless. There is not too much that is different about the romantic comedy part of this book... boy finds girl, girl hates boy but boy likes girl we all get the picture but there are some twists and turns along the way that make the story interesting. Some scenes although maybe not meant to be funny had me laughing out loud and really enjoying them. Now, to the narration. This was my first book by this narrator and oh my goodness she is amazing. She really put her heart and soul into this performance and it showed. She really was a one woman show. She rotated between an outraged teenage girl, to an adult male, back to some drooling teenage boys and even mixed in a 5 year old girl's voice to boot. Simply fantastic! At parts the characters were crying and I cannot be certain but I think the narrator was also crying because she displayed the emotions so well. She is definitely on my radar now and I will be looking out for more of her work, the author too has already made it to my wishlist with another title. A great listening experience and I am glad I got a chance to listen to it. Big shout out to Audioshelf for pointing this one out to me!!!
