Publisher's Summary

Acclaimed children's author Caroline B. Cooney is well-known for her engaging, sophisticated novels for young adults. Here she transports listeners into the world of Shakespeare's Macbeth through the eyes of a young girl named Mary. As a ward of the royal court, Mary has a behind-the-scenes view of the madness taking hold of the warrior and subsequent King Macbeth and his bride. And when Mary's father is executed for treason, Mary must use all of her cunning to escape the chaos unleashed by these power-hungry demagogues.

More than expected

Caroline Cooney did a great job when she used Shakespeare's minor character - Gentlewomen - and made her into a three dimensional character - lady Mary. Cooney also used other minor characters along with made up ones and this makes this fantastic novel a good read.
