In the 10 winters since Kyanos was defeated, Rider Braidyn and his dragon, Turqueso, have made a place for themselves in the sleepy Boeskay colony. After recovering one nestling, Braidyn recruits his old friends Ruskya and Carryl to help. The friends travel to a faraway desert colony where they find a group of riders with different customs, and meet a beautiful young woman who could be the key to finding the missing nestling. Liked the beginning chapters

The initial plot point, the theft of dragon eggs, explains why mating is such a major issue in book 1. The quest to retrieve them was interesting. Then the book plunges into a misogynist, sand dune based, camel riding semitic culture. Totally unnecessary cultural link. Thumbs down.

Reminds me of a book read in class.

For some reason. the narrator reminds me of a teacher reading to a class. I would also say this is a great middle school book.

Great Followup to the First Book

I really enjoyed this book. It was better than the first book in the series, not quite as confusing with the characters and their names. It was also easier that I'm more established with the two that have similar names after an entire book of them. The storyline was good, though there are still many foolish characters who don't seem to have much sense. I was rooting for characters and relationships, though some developing relationships I wish would have had more time to grow. The narration on the audiobook was a little bit better, but I did keep it at fast speed on my mp3 player, which seemed to help. Overall, I'm really enjoying the series and would like to check out the other books. =)
