Praise for Carve the Mark:

“Roth skillfully weaves the careful world-building and intricate web of characters that distinguished Divergent.” (VOYA, starred review)

“Roth offers a richly imagined, often brutal world of political intrigue and adventure, with a slow-burning romance at its core.” (ALA Booklist)

Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth have grown up in enemy countries locked in a long-standing fight for dominance over their shared planet. When Akos and his brother are kidnapped by the ruling Noavek family, Akos is forced to serve Cyra, the sister of a dictator who governs with violence and fear. Cyra is known for her deadly power of transferring extraordinary pain unto others with simple touch, and her tyrant brother uses her as a weapon against those who challenge him. But as Akos fights for his own survival, he recognizes that Cyra is also fighting for hers, and that her true gift - resilience - might be what saves them both.

When Akos and Cyra are caught in the middle of a raging rebellion, everything they’ve been led to believe about their world and themselves must be called into question. But fighting for what’s right might mean betraying their countries, their families, and each other.

When the time comes, will they choose loyalty or love?

This production includes a bonus excerpt from The Fates Divide, Veronica Roth's powerful follow-up novel performed by Austin Butler, Emily Rankin, Erin Spencer, and MacLeod Andrews!

Love!!!

I literally loved this book so much. I ended up reading the book on my own without the audible book cause I felt like I was into it myself better. I lived this book so much though I highly recommend!!

Wanted to like it but

I just couldn't get into the book. It has a lot of potential. But it needed some smaller climatic scenes to propel me forward.

Love this book

Honestly nothing extremely spectacular, but I love this book. You are placed into a sci fi setting and you are give a lot of new information about the world the main characters live in at a very decent pace. I never felt lost during this book and I never felt like information was being dumbed on me either. Just a beautiful story filled with beautiful world building and character development. And I absolutely love the narrators of this books. Very well done.

Good book

I really liked this book and there is likely to be a sequel. I would have given it five stars but I found some of the character names so odd and similar to each other, it was hard to follow at times.

Couldn't Stop Readin!

I had to use both the kindle and audible versions to keep the story going once I got past the first few chapters because I was HOOKED. Couldn't put it down. Another great read by Veronica Roth.

Above Average

The story was not a surprise, it's similar to the divergent series but it was still good, it kept me entertained. I particularly liked the narrators. They both really helped the characters come to life for me. Cyra had a strong passionate voice while Akos was calm and level.
Overall a good read and I will for sure listen to it's sequel when it's released.

Enjoyed the book, but it's not the best

The narrator was great and it was a good story overall but I found it a little confusing at times. Since it takes place in a futuristic setting and on different planet/planets (I think?), I was thrown off by some of the terminology that went unexplained and sometimes found it hard to keep track of who was who. I also thought the ending was pretty underwhelming. I'm assuming it was meant to be a cliffhanger with all of the unanswered questions but the abrupt ending had me thinking "wait, that can't be it, they must have forgotten to include the ending." Despite the negatives, I still enjoyed it and Veronica Roth is an amazing author. I'm just hoping she sheds some light on a few things in the next book.

kind big boring compared to her last series

had a hard time keeping focus, it is a good story line but more could have been implemented to make it a better story.
