Publisher's Summary

*In seventeen-year-old Jax Mitchell's world, humans are nearly extinct and alien settlers have arrived.*
*Until recently, the E'rikon have remained segregated in their city and ignored the few humans who have tried to engage them… but now they have taken Jax's brother. To rescue him, she forms an uneasy alliance with a teenage E'rikon left stranded in the woods. She agrees to guide him to the city if he sneaks her past the human-proof barrier. Too bad it's not that simple.*
*Jax, who cannot stand to be touched, finds that she's drawn to the alien boy with bright green hair and jewel-like scales on his back. And he's equally affected by her, the courageous redhead with haunted eyes. But she doesn't know the alien's true motives and he has no idea that she is much more than she seems.*
*With the aliens and the humans at odds, the connection forming between the two teens has consequences. What started off as a rescue mission sets a chain of events in motion which threatens not only the remaining humans and the growing alien society, but Earth itself.*

A great sci fi novel

Any additional comments?

Sci-Fi is nt my typical grnrebut in this case, I'm so glad I did. Theresa pulled me into Jax's story from page one and kept me on the edge of my seat until the last. Her world building was spot on and I could see the world she had created in my mind. I was glad to hear that there is a second book in the works as I definitely want more. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci Fi novels, or even if you don't, you should give it a try, you won't regret it! I would recommend this audiobook

A fresh take on alien invasion. Great performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend this to young people or anyone interested in getting introduced to the sci fi genre. An easy read (or listen) with a fun concept.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vitrad makes for a fun villain. He's calculating, vicious, and out on a mission to get you. (add maniacal laughter)

What does Andrea Emmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Andrea enhances the story and is a natural fit. She personifies Jax and the rest of the cast by beautifully rendering them with her voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not one moment in particular but Jax's relationship with Jace was very moving.
