Publisher's Summary

In his acclaimed national best seller, A Fighter's Heart, Sam Sheridan took listeners with him as he stepped through the ropes into the dangerous world of professional fighting. From a muay Thai bout in Bangkok; to Rio, where he trained with jiu-jitsu royalty; to Iowa, where he matched up against the toughest in MMA, Sheridan threw himself into a quest to understand how and why we fight.
In The Fighter's Mind, Sheridan does for the brain what his first book did for the body. To uncover the secrets of mental strength and success, Sheridan interviewed dozens of the world's most fascinating and dangerous men, including celebrated trainers Freddie Roach and Greg Jackson; champion fighters Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, and Marcelo Garcia; ultrarunner David Horton; legendary wrestler Dan Gable; and many more. What are their secrets? How do they stay committed through years of training, craft a game plan, and adjust to the realities of the ring? How do they project strength when weak and remain mentally tough despite incredible physical pain?
A fascinating book, bursting at the seams with incredible stories and insight, The Fighter's Mind answers these questions and many more.

A Magnificient Perspective

A definite read if you have ever wondered what "mental" toughness is. It was much more relatable than I expected, another great piece from Mr. Sheridan.

highly entertaining and interesting

While the gems to write down are few and far between, the book caught me and never let me go. It was willing to leave questions unanswered because the greats disagree, so he did his best to show both perspectives as they are. Loved it.

Amazing insight into a fighters mind and what it takes to be the best, inspirational and motivational.

Highly recommend to martial artists, fighters and the general public alike.

Not what I expected!

What would have made The Fighter's Mind better?

Analysis! I've given up at the half way point as this book is so poorly written. If I wanted the history of combat sports I would have purchased a book on that subject; it would have been better as well. I was expecting a look at the psychological aspects of fighting and how to use them to make myself better. I got none of that whatsoever!

Has The Fighter's Mind put you off other books in this genre?

Did Nicholas Techosky do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It's an easy listen - probably owing to lack of depth!

Any additional comments?

I would not recommend it. Save your money / credits.
