The first and most important thing I must say is that at the time of my purchase in July, 2016 the book is listed as "unabridged" but I can say with 100% certainty that it is abridged. I also own the printed version and was going back and forth between the audiobook and printed book when I realized that some content was missing.
Having said that, I would HIGHLY recommend this book either in printed or audio form.
If you are interested in sailing, then this book is for you. It gives a detailed history of 5 tall ships that met untimely demises due to accidents. The author gives the history of the vessels, the historical background and context as it relates to the ship, and descriptions of the accidents and how they could have been prevented.
These are all contemporary stories of accidents post 1960 or so, not of ships that sank in the 1700's. He is able to provide a great deal of information about the ships due to moderns documents and accounts.
Not only will the book be very interesting for anyone remotely interested in the topic, I also believe that sailors and sailing vessel owners have some good lessons to learn from the descriptions of the accidents.
Narrator was great and was a very good fit for this book.
