Publisher's summary

Wolves howl as a riderless horse returns at sunset to the Culpepper Dude Ranch in the Madison Valley. The missing woman, Nanika Martinelli, is better known as the Fly Fishing Venus, a red-haired river guide who lures clients the way dry flies draw trout. As Sheriff Martha Ettinger follows hoof tracks in the snow, she finds one of the men who has fallen under the temptress' spell impaled on the antler tine of a giant bull elk, a kill that' s been claimed by a wolf pack. An accident? If not, is the killer human or animal? With painter, fly fisherman, and sometimes private detective Sean Stranahan's help, Ettinger will follow clues that point to an animal rights group called the Clan of the Three-Clawed Wolf and to their svengali master, whose eyes blaze with pagan fire.

A really great story

A very interesting story with lots of twists and turns listen turns and really humanity. It's nice to be involved with characters that are just basically kind and decent and real all at the same time.

Great Storyline & Narration

The third in the Sean Stranahan series continues to develop characters and their relationships to one another. There is just enough tension among characters that it's hard to know how relationships will ultimately fall, and that is just one part of why the book is so good.
A great read for those interested in mysteries and who fancy a few twists and turns throughout a story.

Storytelling at its best

Enjoyed the well thought thru story, excellently presented; a slice of life, people and place new to me. And love "Straney". More, please. Thank you.

Another great story by Keith McCafferty

Mixture of mystery, humor and great geographical backdrop for the storyline. His writing makes you feel like you're right there with the characters in the middle of Montana and the mountains watching everything unfold as it happens.

Finally!

Like most of my favorite authors, I stumbled upon Keith McCafferty. A gold nugget amongst a lot of gravel, his Sean Stranahan series has been mesmerizing so far. Three down in four days- what does that say about his writing, and characters? Plus, Rick Holmes does a superb job of narrating such a diverse cast of characters. These are the narration gigs that make you wonder how on earth the job can be done so flawlessly. I'm hooked, pun entirely intended & believe most anyone who gives the first book a read will be, too. As for my subject line, you'll have to read or listen to understand. Tight lines!

THEY KEEP GETTING BETTER!

I read the first Stranahan mystery because a friend recommended it. I enjoyed it, but did not expect the second one to be as good. It ws! The third one surpassed all expectations. I really look forward to the next one.
