Publisher's summary

Many of us wear a mask that covers not our faces but our souls, hiding the authenticity we yearn to express. But how do we remove these masks and step into our full creative power? On Your Creative Soul, Caroline Myss and Sandra Joseph, the author and actress best known for her role as Christine in Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera, investigate the profound relationship between our spirituality and our creative lives - and why it's essential for each of us to honor the impulses of the soul. Caroline begins by offering her understanding of the inherent connection between spirituality and creativity and why every breath we take is itself an act of creation. She illuminates the many levels of creative expression beyond artistic pursuits and illustrates the energetic anatomy of the creative process chakra by chakra. Sandra and Caroline discuss the most common blocks to creativity, then Sandra points the way toward six "doorways" to creativity, as together they explore:

  • Re-evaluating our relationship with the survival instinct of fear
  • The shadow of creativity - what happens when we squelch the soul's call
  • How to "empty oneself and let go" - the key to authenticity in performance

What are you longing to create right now? What inner gifts are waiting to be revealed? Your Creative Soul is an inspirational guide for giving voice to your deepest truths. Features five beautiful songs performed by Sandra Joseph.

Enjoyed the singers message and heart

A standard good work by Carolyn Myss. She has moments where she kind of whips her audience, which I don't care for, but she is powerful. Her co-presenter is a wonderful addition, and a warm heart. Loved the time spent.

A great talk which all should listen too

I enjoyed listening to this book because I myself am going through a period of my life with great change! I have been doing my shadow work which i put off for years due to ego which is bringing forth a new voice from within me. Listening to this story I get where Caroline is coming from when she gets on her soap box about much of what she talked about throughout the book. I understand how spirit in an instant can change your life. Sometimes this happens without notice or warning. Several times in my life I've suddenly found myself moving to setup a whole new life somewhere else. I get it and I know it will happen again and I will go without question.

I enjoyed hearing more form Sandra and her experiences. Sandra talked about her early experiences through what finally helped/made her make the final transition into the person she's become. I like how she talks about getting into the proper state of being and not letting anything move her from it. Sandra spoke of her getting up to give a performance which wasn't authentic. I remember when Carolyn talked about the same thing in one of her talks and a book. It's something we all do and here we have two people who have worked through it. Yes, they teach you to work through it yourself.

Go through the book listening to what is being expressed and put forth for all to see, hear and experience!

Incredibly beautiful!!!

I have listened to all audiobooks by Caroline Myss and they all touch my soul. Sandra Joseph brings a dimension to it that even though I would have not thought would be missing, becomes quintessential. The brilliance of Caroline Myss combined with the beauty and emotion of Sandra Joseph’s artistic expression make this audiobook a Masterpiece.

Two different voices...disjointed

I found this audiobook really disjointed. I'm a big fan of Carolyn Myss and I find her other works really powerful and insightful. Unfortunately in this one, I found her sections really angry and harsh. She spends a lot of time saying how we revel in our wounds instead of getting ourselves to do serious work. Most of the time I find her style to be very honest and straight up, but this time I found several of her sections incredibly uncompassionate. Sandra Joseph's sections were much lighter. They focused more on her personal journey, which was interesting. I was a little annoyed that she sang a broadway song after each of her sections. It just felt really out of place to me. I think either of the authors could have made a fine audiobook about this subject on their own. The truth is they don't really seem to go together and the whole book just felt like it was jumping back and forth without any connectivity.

So tired of being told off!

What disappointed you about Your Creative Soul?

Carolyn Myss is just relentlessly negative and angry. It's like there's some imaginary listener who has been too demanding or something - a section can start off very positively, and then the next thing there's her strident voice telling us what terrible people we are.

What could Caroline Myss and Sandra Joseph have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I would but a book by Sandra - she has some great things to say.

Any additional comments?

I've bought several of Carolyn's books, and with this one I've finally learned my lesson. Never again.

Caroline Fired Up!

I enjoyed this very emotional Caroline. The singing of Sandra was exquisite and a treat. I would have enjoyed the singing were it inserted in any audiobook and suggest that the authors separate their work. On the other hand, how would I have enjoyed this lovely voice if Caroline had not agreed to collaborate?

Creating garbage

This book was nonsense. I think they just wrote something to write. Sandra Joseph's songs in between I could have done without. Terrible.
