Publisher's summary

Our never-ending quest towards self-improvement and success is a long journey of small steps. Habits we repeat day after day, week after week, year after year. Habits that have turned us into who we are today that will also determine who we will become in the future and the success we will have. This goes for all our habits, the good ones, as well as the bad ones, from working out and reading books to smoking and drinking.

This book focuses on the positive habits (or as author Leonard Mack called them - habitudes), that have the potential to turn us into better and more successful people, and that can truly transform our lives.

The habits and life lessons are presented from great people such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., John D. Rockefeller, William Shakespeare, and John F. Kennedy. Advice from some of the greatest and most inspiring people to have ever stepped foot on this planet is compiled in a simple way that can help you apply it to your daily life.

Inspirational political leaders like Benjamin Franklin or Sir Winston Churchill, emperors like Caesar or Napoleon, powerful business icons like Sir Richard Branson, or incredible athletes like Michael Jordan and LeBron James all have winning habits they perform daily. All of them are part of an elite group of highly successful people. All of them got there by cultivating little habits and attitudes that they repeated over and over again. Little habits and attitudes that don't require any special talent, only motivation, will power, and discipline. You will find inspiration and motivational guidance to be successful in Winning Habitudes - 99 Habits and Attitudes of Leaders, Visionaries and Achievers.

Great advice with practical examples

Winning habits must be behind Leonard Mark’s well-researched book on winning habits and attitudes – or ‘habitudes’, as he calls them - because there are a lot of references and historical facts to support many of his 99 habitudes.

Each habit is attributed to an inspirational figure with lots of additional resources recommended along the way, whether it be a biography, other book, app or website to provide more information.

Narrator Jim Seybert has a powerful voice that instills confidence and positivity as he reads through Mark’s 99 positive habits. Most of the author’s suggestions are small and easy to incorporate into everyday life, with the idea being that the listener should do what they can, rather than adopt the entire palate of ideas.

Each habitude asks who did it and why you should do it, then goes on to explain it in further detail. The first question is attributed to a well-known figure, either modern or historical, with examples of how they incorporated that particular habitude into their life. The list is inclusive of musicians, politicians, spiritual leaders, actors, writers, philosophers, businessmen, authors, sportsmen, philanthropists and even fictional characters like James Bond and Jason Bourne. Many names are known, while others are more introspective of American culture – an odd choice given the international audience of Audible and the number of famous, internationally renowned personalities available.

The second question – why you should do it – goes on to personalise the habitude by explaining how it relates to ordinary individuals who probably don’t have the advantages of the famous people used as the inspiration.

The structure of the book is clear, with habitudes broken into umbrella headings such as Success, Motivation, Productive, and Fit & Healthy Habitudes.

Seybert’s voice is clear, crisp and encouraging, although referring to Arnold Schwarzenegger as Australian instead of Austrian under habitude 32 is an appalling editorial error that should never have passed the censor. It is simple and obvious mistakes like that which can diminish credibility for the entire book because suddenly, who knows what other factual mistakes there are that I didn’t pick up as a listener?

Assuming the best-case scenario however, Winning Habitudes is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to improve their life.

I was voluntarily provided a review copy at no charge by the narrator but have no other connection with him so it has not influenced my review. You can read my complete review of this title and other audiobooks on my website at SaidNotRead dot wordpress dot com.

Recommended, I'll listen again and take notes.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am very impressed and will get more Audible books. I thought Jim did a wonderful job of reading this book. I was able to listen to it playing in the background in two sessions, next time I will be taking notes. Great job, very concise and good information. A good mix of people I was familiar with and a few I hadn't heard about before. I'm now looking forward to downloading the mini-book mentioned at the end.

Have you listened to any of Jim Seybert’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm trying my first Audible book. I heard Jim discussing Audible on a local radio show. I think Jim did a great job and I will be looking for more that he has read. I liked the content of this book and will also look for more by this author, Leonard Mack.

Any additional comments?

I don't know what took me so long to join Audible and try my first book. I will definitely recommend to my friends although many of them are already members.

Positive Life Changes That Anyone Can Make

This was a great motivational book with 99 positive changes you can make in your life. Included are great examples of which successful modern or historic person included the habit into their lives.

The book also noted that most people can’t incorporate every change into their lives and radically changes the way they do things… Most of these are small changes and you are meant to incorporate them slowly to make it easier to adjust and keep up with them in the long term.

I thought this was a very good motivational book and I have already incorporated a few of the habits into my daily routine.

The narrator was very good but there were a few errors. Nothing most people would notice, but since I did I took off one star.

I requested and received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Awesome book!

Really enjoyed this book! Clear and to the point. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was a quick reference PDF to go with the book.

I Want More…..

TARGET AUDIENCE: I would classify this book as a Motivational book, and not a “how to” book. Very inspirational. Terrific book to use to help you rejuvenate yourself.

CONTENT: The author has come up with 99 real, effective habits, using examples of everyone from Hugh Heffner to Carl Marx. My biggest two frustrations are (1) I was listening to it in my vehicle, and couldn’t write down the specific Habitudes that I would like to try to implement, and (2) The author didn’t explain how to implement these habits. That said, I loved it.

NARRATOR: Amazing narrator. Jim’s reading really added to the text.

WOULD I RE-READ? Absolutely. I often read some of my books two or more times. This is definitely a book that I will make sure I read again, only this time I will make sure I have some paper handy.

OVERALL: A must read, especially times when you want to re-evaluate your current path, and rejuvenate yourself.

One of my best habits is listening to Jim Seybert

Where does Winning Habitudes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I believe 99 habits are too many to consume. As a result, I wish Audible had listed them as 99 chapter headings instead of grouping them into 12. Had this been done, I would rate this book higher.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Winning Habitudes?

I hate boring meetings, so I loved the story in chapter 7 about Mark Cuban's distaste for meetings.

Which character – as performed by Jim Seybert – was your favorite?

The narrator, Jim Seybert, made me feel that I was listening to his stories, even though I knew they were written by author Leonard Mack.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I'm a huge fan of Ben Franklin. So that was the most moving moment in the book for me.

Any additional comments?

I recommend reading Charles Duhigg's THE POWER OF HABIT either before or after HABITUDES. These books compliment, not compete, with each other.
