Publisher's Summary

Like millions of women, Laura Doyle wanted her marriage to be better. But when she tried to get her husband to be more romantic, helpful, and ambitious, he withdrew - and she was lonely and exhausted from controlling everything. Desperate to be in love with her man again, she decided to stop telling him what to do and how to do it. When Doyle surrendered control, something magical happened. The union she had always dreamed of appeared. The man who had wooed her was back. The underlying principle of The Surrendered Wife is simple: The control women wield at work and with children must be left at the front door of any marriage. Laura Doyle's matrimony shows women how they can both express their needs and have them met while also respecting their husband's choices. When they do, they revitalize intimacy. The Surrendered Wife will show you how to transform a lonely marriage into a passionate union.

Wonderful!

This book is wonderful! I listened to it twice and then gave it to my sister. The author points out things I haven't thought of before. Great book.

Abridged!! AHHH

What did you like best about The Surrendered Wife? What did you like least?

Good information on marriage

What does Laura Doyle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like being able to listen to books while I'm doing other things. Can't really multitask while reading an actual paper book.

Do you think The Surrendered Wife needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think there should be an option to get this unabridged. I really dislike abridged books.

Any additional comments?

This was wonderful information. I really like the whole taoist kind of take on it. Like the tin yang kind of thing, that a lot of people may call antifeminist....I just think it's good information that a lot of people are afraid of.

Fantastic book

I think we could all do with giving up a little bit of control to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. This is essentially the essence of this story and I think the author explains it very well. As a former control addict and always looking for ways that I can surrender more and be better in my life and I definitely picked up a few fabulous tips from this book. perhaps her best tip is not retaliating in an argument but simply saying ouch Wenstone by the words of another. This leaves them to assess their words and leave them hanging in the air which has a far greater effect than retaliating in anger. Definitely recommended if you are married or intended to get married

My poor husband

A friend recommended this book as I had watched a film which had helped me recognise that I wasn’t allowing my husband to be a man. Having read this book I fall into every single category. It’s going to take time but I will work on this from today. I think I will need to listen again to this book every so often to help me reach my goal. Thank you so much for writing this in a clear , concise way that doesn’t degrade women but empowers us.
