Publisher's summary

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Jesus)

Congratulations! Your Goliath has arrived. Enemies often seem to get in the way of our plans, leaving us discouraged and disoriented. But what if these obstacles are a part of God’s plans for us? Our enemies - whether our weaknesses, circumstances, deep-seated sins, other people, or any other challenge - can become our stepstool to new breakthroughs in life, if we leverage the opportunity. Just as David’s encounter with Goliath transformed him from a delivery boy to a national hero, our enemies can be a blessing in disguise - if only we recognize and face them head-on.

Human nature tells us to flee our enemies, but Ron Carpenter will challenge you to embrace them. In The Necessity of an Enemy, Ron shares engaging insights like:

  • God intended for every enemy to be your footstool for promotion.
  • If you want to be Number One, you can’t just beat Number Nine.
  • The depth of your battle gives you insight into the greatness of the potential God put in you, and an enemy is your key to unlocking that potential.
  • All battles are fought over your future, not over your past or present circumstances.

Are you ready to reach your next goal in life? Do you want biblically based wisdom to help defeat every enemy and move with confidence to your destiny? The Necessity of an Enemy will give you the tools to change your perspective - and find meaning and purpose in all of life’s trials.

A good Biblical accounting of overcoming struggles

What did you like best about The Necessity of an Enemy? What did you like least?

I liked the Biblical examples of overcoming struggle the best.

What I liked least was the overall story of the Single Mother's home program. What I couldn't grasp was how the developer was able to get millions of dollars in investors within the Church without Mr. Carpenter ever knowing about it. That struggle made the rest of the book a bit off for me.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Focus more on what you could have done, should have done that ultimately helps you overcome the enemy. The book read a lot like a victim sharing his issues.

Which character – as performed by Tim Lundeen – was your favorite?

Ron Carpenter.

Do you think The Necessity of an Enemy needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. It was a personal account. No sequel needed in my view.

Any additional comments?

The concept of an enemy can be a source of motivation. No doubt.

Super encouraging word for Overcomers

This book gives a whole new perspective on facing the Giants in our lives. The battles in our lives and in particular the spiritual strategies underlying those battles are in a way a barometer of the victories that are ours to attain right around the corner. Put this one on your A-list, because likely there's a battle and a potential victory coming your way soon.

The Necessity ... By Ron Carpenter

This audiobook met my expectations in every way. My favorite moment was the definition of conflict - the space between expectations and reality...the narrator was better than most, but the narrators tone and inflection was limited, which got monotonous after a few hours of listening to this book. I look forward to more from Ron Carpenter.

Great for when you are feeling attacked

I would recommend to anyone who is feeling alone and attacked by the enemy. I was recommended this book by my godmother while going through a dark season and it sure did put lights on things I didn’t realize. If you don’t have time to read it you will have time to listen. Pop in that head phone and let it change your mind and heart.

Sound teaching & testimonials

Thoroughly enjoy the audio book. It's not the same without Ron Carpenter voice, but I felt encouraged and will listen again because I need to remember all the steps!
