Publisher's Summary

"One of the most admired men in the world of seduction" (The New York Times) teaches average guys how to approach, attract, and begin intimate relationships with beautiful women. For every man who always wondered why some guys have all the luck, Mystery, considered by many to be the world's greatest pickup artist, finally reveals his secrets for finding and forming relationships with some of the world's most beautiful women. Mystery gained mainstream attention for his role in Neil Strauss' New York Times best-selling expose The Game. Now he has written the definitive handbook on the art of the pickup. He developed his unique method over years of observing social dynamics and interacting with women in clubs to learn how to overcome the guard shield that many women use to deflect come-ons from "average frustrated chumps". His tips include:
Give more attention to her less attractive friend at first, so your target will get jealous and try to win your attention.

Always approach a target within three seconds of noticing her. If a woman senses your hesitation, her perception of your value will be lower.

Don't be picky. Approach as many groups of people in a bar as you can and entertain them with fun conversation. As you move about the room, positive perception of you will grow. Now it's easy to meet anyone you want.

Smile. Guys who don't get laid, don't smile.

What the Critics Say

"One thing is clear: [Mystery is] good at what he does. You'll laugh, you'll scoff, but in the end, you'll probably learn something." (Publishers Weekly)
"Von Markovik knows what he's talking about." (Library Journal)
"[Mystery] has single-handedly invented much of the jargon and tactics that men around the world are using to meet women." (The New York Times)

Extract the elements you need. Ignore the rest.

Listen to the sample to determine if you'll have a problem with the narrator--I didn't mind his tone at all. He's a narrator, reading, and simply passing info on to me.

As for the content, it was either EXACTLY what I needed, or it was taught in a very convincing way. I, like many others, am rather put-off by the gimmicky games and condescending attitude toward women. So I disregarded that fluff. But there is tons of material that I GREATLY appreciated--How to open a conversation with multiple women...cold, how to stimulate their *emotions* and not fall into banal chatter, how to win the respect of your "target's" friends first, how to entertain and engage a woman or women in conversation regardless of your intentions, what indicators of interest to watch for, how to ask for contact info, etc.

I've read The Game and listened to this audiobook twice, and started to "get it." True story: I knew something was changing in me when I was with friends at a bar, saw three cute ladies (about 10 yrs younger than me) talking amongst themselves. I left my friends and started a conversation with all three of them. (One of my friends pulled me aside and said, "What are you DOING?") My opener was a true, honest topic that I composed a few minutes before speaking with them--and they were VERY interested in responding with their opinions. Two hours later, I had the email address of the cutest one of the bunch. :-) For me, this was UNREAL.

Interesting to Listen to as a Woman

I decided before I re-enter the "dating" world at 45, I'd like a peek into a man's mind of what he's thinking when he's practicing his "game" out in the "field". This book has given me great laughs and some intereting tips to share with my good friends on how to enjoy the dating game. I recommend it as a light listen to women who want to know more about possibly why they are attracted to certain men, and not others. This book is not intended for women - but if the "game" is about catching me, as a woman I want to know the rules you think I'll play by. Very interesting - don't agree with it all, but a real eye opener.
