Publisher's summary

A research-based guide to navigating the newest dating phenomenon - "the love gap" - and a trailblazing action plan to help smart, confident, career-driven women find (and keep) their match.

For a rising generation of young women, the sky is the limit. Women can be anything and have everything. They are outpacing their male peers in higher education and earning the corner office at work. Smart, driven, assertive women are succeeding at just about everything they do - except romance.

Why are so many men afraid to date smart women?

Modern men claim to want smarts, success, and independence in romantic partners. Or so says the data collected by scientists and dating websites. If that's the case, why are so many independent, successful women winning in life, but losing in love? Journalist Jenna Birch has finally named the perplexing reason: "the love gap" - or that confusing rift between who men say they want to date and who they actually commit to. Backed by extensive data, research, in-depth interviews with experts and real-life relationship stories, The Love Gap is the first book to explore the most talked-about dating trend today. The guide also establishes a new framework for navigating modern relationships, and the tricky new gender dynamics that impact them. Women can, and should, have it all without settling.

EBP Meets The Dating Game

A modern analysis of current dating trends. Unlike predecessors, the author isn't trying to convince women to conform to cronyism and 1950's June Cleaver stereotypes or even the 1970's 'women are working and you can't have it all' models. Jenna Birch dives deep into the data and proves what modern daters know to be true; almost boyfriends and disappearing acts are the norm but now we know why! Hang in there ladies, the Real Deal exists. Er, according to the author because this listener is still single a decade after a divorce. Which, is a topic I had hoped the author would cover; life after divorce, loss, and death. Where are over 40 widower or divorced men in all of this and how does it play out later in life? Possible topic for new research? I'm down; ask me and I'd be happy to do the research for the answers. I'm single anyway LOL

Great Book for women AND men.

This is a book that made me think. I'm not certain the author's assumption is correct- that people are meant to be in long term partnerships and most men simply aren't ready. I think this book might be reinforcing the wrong idea to women (i.e that the long term commited relationship is the correct path). Then again, I could be wrong.

If the author is right, could it be that most men are not ready for a long term relationship, and by the time they are, the woman's biological clock has 'run out'? Or perhaps women need to seek out older, more mature men who ARE ready?

Makes one think...

So much clarity

This is the best book I've come across on dating in a long time. Without vilifying anyone, Jenna clearly explains how both sexes derive their esteem and how that affects their ability to be in relationship. I feel like I finally get it and have some sanity!

Comforting

I appreciated listening to this book. As a 34 year old single woman still looking for something greater in love and connection and having dealt with much of the hardships mentioned, I liked the reassurance that maybe it’s not just me. Definitely a memorable book. I see myself referring to this a lot in the future and will continue to have hope in my path.

Completely necessary in this day & age!

I can't express fully how important this book is today. It makes sifting through dating experiences much more simple. If you're analytical like me and need something to help you understand why "it's just not working," this is essential!

The book I needed

This was the book that spoke to me best (and I had read quite a number trying to uncover why I was struggling). Jenna lays it out using life-based research and of course traditional research to pull it all together. If you're looking just to make sense of the "why", then this book will help lead you there. I recommend for anyone who's a bit lost and looking to get back to a path that makes sense.

Changed my life!

I’ve read so many relationship and dating tip books, but I’ve never had one where I felt like they read me for filth! It was like she’d read my diary and my inner thoughts and spewed them back at me, and actually I still don’t know how to feel! Great job! This is for anyone who knows they’re a fantastic catch, but has had the most confusing and hopeless dating life imaginable, no matter how many books you read, or rules you try to follow!

Pretty Good but a little long

Any additional comments?

It was a good book but I started to lose interest half way in as some of the information is repetitive from other books.

Great content annoying voice

Why is she whispering all the time? I think it takes attention away of the great narrative and research the author made. With objective points of views and many different stories.
