I listened to this book as a part of my strategy to quit smoking. I used this book as well as several other methods (hypnosis with a real person, other books, meditation, prayer) to help me quit smoking.
I can't say which of these actually worked or if it was the sum of all of them but I did quit! I've been "quit" for a month now. I think that listening to the hypnotherapy at night (even if I was sleeping) helped me. I listened intently until they relaxed me so much I fell asleep.
They're supposed to "get through" to your subconscious mind to help retrain your brain. I don't think that it is a bad thing at all to do it at night and fall asleep. I think it helped.
