Publisher's summary

The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be.

Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others. It's a way of thinking that is deeply liberating, allowing us to develop the courage to change and to ignore the limitations that we and other people have placed on us. The result is a book that is both highly accessible and profound in its importance. Millions have already read and benefited from its wisdom. This truly life-changing audiobook will help you declutter your mind of harmful thoughts and attitudes, helping you to make a lasting change, achieve real happiness, and find success.

Phenomenal and Life Changing

As many of the reviews were written, my sentiments echo. This book is life changing. I loved the artistic expression of the ideas through a passionate debate. It was so good that I actually could barely pull myself away from the material. I even listened to it while at the gym.

Wow!

Courage is an understatement! Took me ten days to finish this for all the right reasons! Do not read if you don’t want your views of “you”punched in the mouth! Should be required reading for every school in the world!

READ this if you have social anxiety or lack sense of purpose!

Wow.. this book came into my life at the perfect time. The way he explains how ALL problems are interpersonal problems blew my mind. This book has helped me develop a better philosophy on how to be less selfish, find deeper meaning in my life, and contribute to a world that is obsessed with comparison, social status and shallow, self-defining metrics. Truly, life-changing book.

Totally changed my perspective!

This was so awesome to listen to, I found myself asking the same questions the kid was asking. And I loved how everything was explained in such a matter of fact tone. Narration kept me captivated too!

Simple and impactful

At first I was annoyed by the attitude of the boy, and by his stupid arguments. I thought ok, just another book about happiness for stupid people.

I wasn't wrong. It is for stupid people in the sense that it is written very simply. However, it is not "just another book about happiness".

Many of the ideas presented in this book are pretty contrary to our intuitions and common knowledge. And the way the writer presents them and builds one on top of the other, makes the book make perfect sense in the end.

Will read it again in a year or so

So much wisdom

This was like being the fly on the wall during a great conversation. Powerful ideas that take time to thoughtfully digest. I suggest making notes in the areas of the book that you would like to review so you can get back to the content that provoked ideas as you listens. So many of the concepts presented need to be revisited for the deepest growth. I am grateful this book was suggested to me.

Book for this Generation and Beyond

This book contains a real hope for all of us. That life is really simple after all. In the end, it boils down into serving others. Which is one commandment of Love as Jesus taught us. Love one another as you Love yourself. Service to others is the end is loving our neighbor..
