I now know why there are so many 5 star reviews!

For me, the most memorable quote from the book: "Do not major in minor things." Another good one: "All leaders are readers." Rohn's driving philosophy is to learn to be a student of your life. Study your life. Study happiness. Study wealth. Study health. Also, the greatest treasures you can leave behind are your library, your journals, and your photos.

You never know what can trigger a life changing moment. A verse in a song. A quote from a movie. A conversation with a friend or colleague. This book has many, many anecdotal triggers. You will want to read it/hear it again, and again.

Lacking Depth.

I was expecting more based on the reviews but there is almost no major insight or depth to any of the advice given.

If this is your first book on self improvement it will give a good overview of how to approach the subject and what areas to focus on. Unfortunately it doesn't give any depth on the subjects making it more of a checklist of where to start looking.

Jim Rohn's delivery of the content also frustrated me. It may just be his accent but the phrasing and emphasis in the delivery just annoyed me, probably just personal taste though.

Not worth the time

This book contains nothing unique and is padded with banal anecdotes and bible quotes. The only thing of value was the constant talk on goal setting but this concept is far from original. If you're familiar with almost any other self-improvement books then the chances are Mr Rohn has nothing to offer you.

waffle only with no meaning or content

What disappointed you about The Art of Exceptional Living?

it is written a while ago and it shows. constant repetition of the same things.
the most annoying thing is Jim Rohn's voice and the way he talks. I managed about 2 hours then gave up. the content is so basic and boring that I would rather put a camp fire out with my face than listen any more of him.
