Publisher's summary

Resource Tapping is a clinically recognized therapy to activate your inner strength and resiliency through bilateral stimulation of the brain. With step-by-step instruction, Tapping In teaches you this groundbreaking system for tapping both sides of the body to release emotional and physical distress, aid in healing, and calm the body on a deep physiological level.

World-renowned EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) expert Dr. Laurel Parnell guides you through a series of easy-to-learn exercises to access your "latent positive resources" - the neurological foundation for your internal resilience and sense of safety.

Through her soothing, personal mentoring, you will discover how to use tapping to:

  • Relieve anxiety, insomnia, and creative blocks
  • Build resilience in the face of stressful situations
  • Unlock and amplify joy, gratitude, wisdom, compassion, and freedom
  • Provide emotional "Trauma First Aid" in emergency situations

EMDR is a potent, proven tool for trauma recovery. Resource Tapping focuses on the other side of the coin: preventive self-care. With Tapping In, you now have a practical strategy to strengthen and nourish your inner resilience, easily access your positive resources, and remain in your natural state of wholeness.

Beneficial Tools

This is a wonderful resource not only for EMDR therapists, but for any individual who would like to begin a tapping meditation practice. One suggestion would be to attach a “Table of Contents” as the Audible does not follow the book’s layout. As a clinician, I refer often to the book and have also suggested the Audible to use for the guided meditations, however I had to create my own table of contents for clients so they would know where to locate each topic since it is not in the same order as the book. Another option would be to put guided meditations as a chapter by itself, per meditation to make it an easier resource to get to as someone is ready to complete an exercise.

Wonderful!

I am a therapist, and have patients who will benefit from this! I really appreciate that Dr. Parnell did the narration herself. I hope she will make more of her books available in audio format, narrating them as well.

Had Hoped For More

I had hoped for more here. There is more to tapping than this. This is more of a book about guided meditations than tapping, which is fine but it was not about what was stated in the summery, which was "what makes tapping work" Perhaps I read the summery in a different way.

More than Tapping

I was really enjoying this book, as I am beginning EMDR therapy soon. However, you need to be a big fan of Hinduism to get through it. If you are, you’ll like it. If you would prefer that it stay centered on the tapping experience itself, you will not.

Inspiring, thoughtful, well organized & delivered

Thanks for the time, energy, insights, wisdom and compassion shared through your innovative use of EMDR. Resources, through your example, are both abundant and meant for our use, we need merely discover them hidden in plain sight.

Sample the audio first

There was probably very useful information in the audio book but, unfortunately, I could not got past the tone of the narrator's voice.

Wonderful Resource

She made resource tapping very easy to understand and use. I have used resource tapping but this book truly expands the many resources that can be used for tapping.

Maximizes a Great Procedural Asset from EDMR

This book compelled me to research Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); which the author teaches, and from which this technique was adapted. Stopping just shy of a deep dive into the vast information available on this trauma-based therapy, I found great value in the focused method for instilling and anchoring coping resources.

Building your resource toolbox uses some hidden, forgotten, or unused internal assets. Some you will construct from various pieces of your past and current life experiences (and/or your desired experiences). Once you understand the rationale for when you would need such resources and the process to mobilize them, you will be able to modify and apply these techniques to a variety of situations, circumstances, and needs.

Not for serious trauma suffering

This is about the same as EFT tapping, but with a lot of how to fantasize. Skip this nonsense and learn real meditation and relaxation techniques. I even found some of the recommendations triggering to Cptsd. I find radical acceptance in a real world much more empowering. If you enjoy visualization, affirmations, and placebos this may work for you. I was looking for real coping skills and healing not another spin on visualization. The actual recording and sound is good though.
