Jarring noises and unpleasant music

Rachael Meddows has a lovely voice, but the music played in the background is just irritating enough that it's hard to fall asleep while it's playing. Also, there are long intervals where it is silent, except for the music, and if I do drop off to sleep, I am jumped out of my skin when the narrator begins to speak again. I don't know if the narrator is actually louder in these moments, or if it just seems that way, but it's very unpleasant. Also, I haven't yet noticed any improvement in the cravings I'm trying to overcome, but it may be too soon to evaluate this program's effectiveness.
