Publisher's summary

Our words have the power to create profound healing or incredible suffering. Yet even with the best intentions, it is often difficult to express ourselves in ways that build harmony and trust. Speaking Peace presents a seminal four-part model you can use immediately to connect to the spirit of love and generosity within you and start contributing to the well-being of everyone you relate to.

For over 40 years, visionary author Marshall Rosenberg has used the process of nonviolent communication to help families, schools, businesses, and governments reach accord in seemingly impossible conflicts. Join this pioneering voice to learn:

  • How to use your natural empathy to defuse stressful situations and safely confront anger, fear, and other emotions
  • Proven skills for overcoming dehumanizing communication patterns that block compassion
  • How to see through the eyes of others to foster understanding
  • And more

Marshall Rosenberg teaches that when you convey what is alive in you, your true feelings, and the values and desires behind them, you establish honest, nurturing relationships that eventually fulfill everyone's needs. With Speaking Peace, learn how to align your speech with your heart's purest depths.

Condensed repeat

It's great information and I enjoy his work, but if you've already listened to Non Violent Communication, this is pretty much the same down to the examples. The other book is better if you want to get a better understanding of the nuts and bolts of this style of communication. Kind of disappointing that there was no new information.

basically rehash of nonviolent communication

rehash of nonviolent communication.... some annoying self composed music strewn in.... doesn't add to the title....

the author makes some assumptions in part 2 which are actually the very same judgements he counsels against...
I respect his methods and system but the author has a significant bias which he, himself fails to overcome in this work.

I expected better from this author.
that said I still admire and wish to emulate the principles of nonviolent communication.

excellent companion to the books

Helped me to learn some excellent communication skills, very happy with this purchase. I learned skills that enable me to listen more effectively listen and speak more clearly. I feel that I've also been retrained on how to think and connect with myself. I have found it very helpful to apply these techniques in my marriage. Myself and my wife are better able to understand each other's needs thanks to applying these techniques and principles. we are not perfect but the benefit we have gained from what we do understand thus far has been tremendously helpful and I am grateful that his books exist.

necessary skills to everyone

I wish I was taught this form of communication when I was a teenager, and definitely before I had children. This is a very short but extremely relevant book, that will improve all your relationships.

Best investment in yourself you can possibly make.

Easy listen. Rosenberg is a saint and should be given a Nobel Peace prize for his work.

Same stuff as his original book.

Great concepts, and well developed material. However if you’ve read his original book, there is no significant departure from it here.

Practical Steps to create more peace in your life!

I found this book very enjoyable to listen to, partly because of Marshall Rosenberg's soothing voice. I learned how to apply nonviolent communication principles in relationships, to myself, and in a social justice context.
