I was feeling a little blue this evening so I started listening to this story while cleaning the house and it pulled me right out of my bad mood. I love the positive, hopeful and uplifting message it delivers. The suggestions given for ways to add joy to my life were wonderful and I love the playlist of songs at the end of each chapter. Very cool idea! Rebecca Hansen's performance was just lovely. Her voice is clear, bright and if I had to describe it in just one word, it would be "HAPPY". I felt as if I was listening to a dear friend speaking to me and I couldn't help but smile. Loved this listen!

Insightful, positive and helpful

What did you love best about Something Beautiful?

At first I thought it was going to be a nice summary of helpful ideas that I'd heard before, but it became more than that. Had it simply been a summary, it would have been pretty comprehensive but in the end, it got me thinking about my goals and priorities in a productive way. Most of all, it got me thinking about who I am, who I want to be, and what matters to me.

What did you learn from Something Beautiful that you would use in your daily life?

I take a lot for granted about who I am. I forget that I can change. I forget that I'm making choices. I really get lost in the daily grind. This is a reminder to be more mindful about my life. I bookmarked the playlists at the end of the chapter so that I could listen to samples of the songs to see if they were to my liking, but initially it was a bit jarring. I appreciate the author having included them once I understood how they fit in with the book, and am inspired to think more about how I can use music to reinforce my attitudes and goals.

Any additional comments?

The narrator put effort into speaking clearly, but it felt less natural and less conversational. As the book progressed, I realized that the tone of the narrator seemed to maybe speak of the formality of the author's writing/personality. There's so much of value in this book - I do wish it was presented a bit more conversationally but my tendency is to write/speak more formally too.

I received this audiobook for free. It was my choice to leave a review and I've been honest in my assessment of the recording.
