Publisher's Summary

From Internet sensation Anna Akana comes a candid and poignant collection of essays about love, loss, and chasing adulthood.
In 2007, Anna Akana lost her teen sister, Kristina, to suicide. In the months that followed, she realized that the one thing helping her process her grief and begin to heal was comedy. So she began making YouTube videos as a form of creative expression and as a way to connect with others. Ten years later, Anna has more than a million subscribers who watch her smart, honest vlogs on her YouTube channel. Her most popular videos, including "How to Put On Your Face" and "Why Girls Should Ask Guys Out", are comical and provocative, but they all share a deeper message: Your worth is determined by you and you alone. You must learn to love yourself.
In So Much I Want to Tell You, Anna opens up about her own struggles with poor self-esteem and reveals both the highs and lows of coming of age. She offers fresh, funny, hard-won advice for young women on everything from self-care to money to sex, and she is refreshingly straightforward about the realities of dating, female friendship, and the hustle required to make your dreams come true. This is Anna's story, but, as she says, it belongs just as much to Kristina and to every other girl who must learn that growing up can be hard to do. Witty and real, Anna breaks things down in a way only a big sister can.

Some repetition of stories, but of great ones!

Loved! Only suggestion is to trust that your audience mostly remembers the stories you already told throughout the book. Will read again =) great story!

helped

I loved this so much it really helped thank you. I've been working in a job I really don't enjoy and dealing with mental health issues in a family that really just sweeps things under the rug, so honestly this felt like advice from an older sibling I really needed this.

Honest, relatable and inspiring

I love watching Anna Akana's YouTube videos. They get me through my week, so when her book came out I knew I just had to read it. Maybe it's because I'm just really nosy or just generally interested in getting tips on how I can get through life.
I loved every second of the narration. it's brutally honest - I love the down to earth "saying it how it really is" vibe. Really feels like the advice an older sister would've given me, real, personal and hard hittingly honest.

Anna Akana Influenced Me To Be The Person I Am Today

@annaakana is and always will be one of the biggest influences on me. I discovered her when she was first starting out on YouTube in 2012. She's so strong and motivated with an amazing work ethic despite toxic relationships she's been in as well as the loss of her sister. I had a toxic family member that bullied me (step father who is now no longer in my life) and got bullied pretty badly every day at school on top of that. I had the lowest self esteem possible. I avoided mirrors if I didn't need to look into them to get ready. I had no personality. But I kept my chin up because if Anna can be in a place of depression and insecurity and still come into her own and be strong then so can I. And I did. I will never act on what happened in the past but use it as experience and wisdom to know to watch out for red flags in people. Her book is FULL of advice, bad things that have happened to her and what she's learned. This book is the advice she would give to her little sister that she lost and it's powerful (I downloaded the audio book that she narrated herself)

The most honest and touching book

It’s so good to see social influencer to write a book so real about their life. I could feel her emotion in the book. I absolutely love it!
