No training

I bought this book to train mu voice but instead I found stories about how the author helped other celebrities. He keeps referring to voice exercises found on a website which doesn't exist or not opening for a reason but they should be in the audio book. I'm very disappointed.

The book is more about the author than your voice

I recognise the experience and authority the author brings to this book. However the focus up front on his connection to famous people and how successful he is detracts from the book being a helpful tool. I could not get past the first two chapters.

Yes there is a formula to 'self help' books. Many authors are told to establish credibility so you will read. Surely this does not mean to the level done in this book. I love reading (listening to) books across the self help genre. The ones that work for me are books that genuinely put the reader's interests first, not the author's. Surely someone buying this book already realised the author is successful from his bio.

Also the title says to help with your singing AND speaking voice. I bought this book to help with speaking. Yet the pitch at the start tries to hook you in with an appeal towards being famous. Perhaps a book that is just for singers who want to make it big, and very clearly stated as such, would be better. The book tries to appeal to too many audiences that have clearly different needs. Also sometimes a book originally written in 1999 should stay in that year. The changes noted by the author at the outset to this book warrant and entirely new book, not an update revised edition.

Again this is not about the author. I am sure after reading about his work that he does truly create an impact in the professional lives of his clients. This review is about the book structure and emphasis.
