It actually helped me. Really. It obviously takes work from myself too but the book is the first thing to REALLY help me.

What about Heather Tuya’s performance did you like?

It was engaging without annoying which is perfect for a narrator.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That I can get better - and I *AM* getting better.

I have read a lot of books about self-esteem, always searching for something to help me feel better - this is the ONLY one that has been of any use. Do not expect an overnight cure if you are not prepared to do the work, but really, this book will help you if you actually do really want to get better. It had some very original ideas I had not heard and was written in a very interesting way. I will be recommending this to a lot of people and felt the need to leave this review to say thanks.

A book that actually helped me (and a friend)! Seems quite a miracle after spending a small fortune on other books. I can see why so many people talk about this book, i think it is because it gets to the point and gives stuff we can all actually do. I am bored of reading medical journals about this stuff. I just wanted a basic understanding of it and then get to the point and help me…which is what this book did. Great audiobook, recommended! 5/5

Wow! What a difference!

This book has completely changed the way I feel about myself. After a life full of difficulties and self loathing, I feel like I'm finally on a journey to a more positive, happy life. Jennifer Alison's approach is based on individuals and individual experience. Unlike other books of its kind, this book does not offer a bunch of unhelpful psycho-babble. Rather Ms Alison manages to speak directly to the reader - there were times I was thinking, "how does she know I do that?!" The exercises are very helpful even though they felt a little silly at the start. I feel like I can finally see myself with honest eyes now - not overly critical eyes. I can't recommend this enough!

I don't want to talk about my own issues too much as they are personal but suffice to say this book succeeded where many many others failed in helping me deal with self esteem and other issues such as anxiety. I am getting my life back.

Valuable Teaching and Self Reference Tool

Very helpful! It gives really good resources to help the listener struggling with low self-esteem. Well explained practical strategies you can implement yourself or teach others. it easy to understand where lowered self esteem comes from and how to Recover from Low Self-Esteem. It's worth the price if you want to use with clients and makes a great self-help. I only wish I'd found it sooner!

Be a better, more confident YOU!

What made the experience of listening to Self-Esteem: Fast Proven Treatment for Recovery from Low Self-Esteem the most enjoyable?

It is a life guide that even people that do not feel like they have self-esteem issues would find helpful. It cuts across all aspects of the personal life and how to improve one’s self. Also the exercises in the book and the tips for self-development are very practical.

I wasn’t sure how I wanted to write this review. It has been a while since a book has had me doing so much self-audit. After going through the first few chapters, I had to accept that there were worrying signs of self-esteem issues in my life that I may have neglected to confront. Not anymore. The hardest part of the last 6 hours (yes, I read it in two long stretches) was coming to terms with the need for me to love myself more and promising myself to do something about it before it became a chasm in my life. I would summarise the book in points based on the way I related to the author- Self-esteem issues could be masked by a general feeling of inadequacy, an inability to accept one’s failings and mistakes and a fear of intimacy or developing close relationships- Difficulty socializing or participating in group or community tasks may also indicate self-esteem and confidence problems as well as a lack of (or inadequate) self-belief. I made a mental note to visit the community centre more often and as much as possible, take a book or some snacks to the park close to my house and chat with neighbours more. I’ve known most of them all my life and I can’t understand why I can’t view them as friends.- It’s sometimes easier to accept criticism as truth than praise as being earned. I noticed that I may have been accepting criticism too readily without having a meaningful conversation with the critic about the merits of my decisions. Going forward, I will take some time to enjoy my own achievements and even reward myself. My last vacation allowance is gathering cents in a low interest savings account. I’m going to plan a vacation, it’s long overdue. - Rule your inner voice. Wrestle your demons and let your angels sing. I must learn to be on my own side and quiet the still voice that sometimes tells me that I cannot achieve the things I want to do. Self-love and self-care cannot be overestimated. I need to stop focusing on failure, learn from them and just move on.- An idea I have learnt from the book is to take time to write things daily that I want to do to make myself happier and more content with life as I know it. After all the most important things in life are hardly touched but felt according to Helen Keller.- Unrealistic goal setting sets one up for failure and negative self-vibes. Working too hard, attempting to lose too much weight in a short period, trying to stop bad habits without a proper plan, these are the type of things I need to avoid to make sure I don’t get sucked into bad moods and feelings of underachievement.- Comparing yourself to other people doesn’t do you any good. Keeping up with the Joneses just ends up in unnecessary headache. You're the product of your own experience and should be confident in the fact that the experiences make you who you are, comparison is irrelevant and pointless. Difference makes us who we are. Two of me is waaaay too much - Focusing on things you cannot change also will not let you love yourself. Love your body shape, embrace your mistakes as part of your personal development process, try to feed on positive vibes from the good things in your life- In conclusion, when you’re in a relationship, you should feed it with mutual construct, compromise and understanding that no one is perfect, not your or your partner. Believe that you’re good enough to give and receive love. Know yourself, be yourself and love yourself. Nobody can love you more than yourself. Surround yourself with family and people that you can share things with and trust with your concerns and fears.

Would you consider the audio edition of Self-Esteem: Fast Proven Treatment for Recovery from Low Self-Esteem to be better than the print version?

Having an audio or print version is totally a personal choice. I went with the audio version and it is simply amazing. Story is narrated very well and the sound is clear and crisp.

What other book might you compare Self-Esteem: Fast Proven Treatment for Recovery from Low Self-Esteem to and why?

I have read some books before although they were good but this book outstanding. It have uniqueness of story and explaining things and encouraging us for good things. According to my views its the best book and everybody should go for it.

I was having real hard time with my career.
I am a IT freelancer and working from last two years. I spend most of my time on my pc and don't hang around much.
Everything was going well, I was spending time working and earning. But 6-7 months ago I started loosing work and clients. I was calm as thought of it as a temporary phase but it came out as a long one. With passing times I was losing hope and 3 months ago I lost all of my work and got nothing to do. I was so scared and worried. I was full of negative thoughts. I had to earn to live. I lost all my self esteem that I started working at a restaurent at very low(half) as compared to other doing same job. Due to my tight conditions some people took advantage to that and made fun of me and made me work more then I deserved. I was so worried I kept listening to them without saying anything. My friend suggested me to read such encouraging books. I read two books before this. they were just ok and could not affect me. Then i got this audio book. This book told me several unique ways and ideas to live a positive life. I started applying those ideas into my life and slowly start getting results. By following the instructions and ways I turned my self from a negatively filled individual to a positive and forward looking guy. Now again I am a happy guy and with more positivity and efforts I am getting my work pace back.

Awesome Book!

What made the experience of listening to Self-Esteem: Fast Proven Treatment for Recovery from Low Self-Esteem the most enjoyable?

Jennifer has done a great job exploring the concept of self-esteem and how having a low self-esteem can influence us (in a bad way), Living with low self-esteem can cripple even the strongest of us. If an event calls for you to be filled with confidence, then you are going to want to be at your best. In seconds, low self-esteem and all of the negativity that comes with it can undo the hard work and effort you’ve put forth in your own life.

I really enjoyed the practical solutions that Jennifer offers up. Overcoming a sense of low self-esteem is something that everyone needs to work on, whether they like to admit it or not. This book certainly helps shed some light on the innate struggle and what one can do to battle low self-esteem and emerge victorious.

I would definitely recommend this book to people - especially those looking to pick themselves up out of a rut. If you're looking for something to help with the inner struggle then check this book out!

Improve Yourself Everyday

What does Heather Tuya bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It was very down-to-earth narration. Simple language, very clear and easy to understand. It also deals with life issues that everyone can relate to. There were some signs of self-esteem issues that even confident people like me miss and attribute to something else. I now take note of these signs better after I read the book.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Setting realistic goals and not keeping up with the person next door. Trying not to focus on things I have no control over and accepting the results regardless as far as I know I did the best I could.

It was a surprisingly good read for people who do not believe they have any self-esteem. Once you read the first few chapters and go through the exercises, you would see that there are a lot of areas of your life you can improve. Trying too hard to please people can be interpreted as being a hard worker whereas it could mask a deep-rooted insufficiency and need to be loved. The book went through the chapter, steadily providing cause and effect as well as solutions.

when they fail to close a client, you’d think it was their fault whereas the person might just not be ready for a change of vendor at that time. I think this book would come handy during our team building activities. There are many self-development exercises to pick from that will make a difference in their lives.
