Whether we’re focused on the apocalypse or just an ill-timed breakdown on the side of a particularly remote road, there’s something about imagining survival scenarios that can be addictive. On some level, we all wonder if we would have what it takes to pit ourselves against the worst the world can possibly offer and make it out alive. That’s why it’s no surprise that survival literature is so popular, and that the stories in the genre are so diverse.

I really loved this book, it helped out a lot. I have been wanting to know these type of things for a long time, And I do like to know how the Navy SEALs think.

I loved the show, glad I bought the audio book

Quite enjoyable, very informative. If you saw his TV show then you will find much of the same material plus much new material that is not right for the TV format (too short, not exciting enough visually, etc). If the TV show was for the purpose of entertainment first and information second, the audio book reversed in that regard, but still full of personal anecdotes to connect with the audience.

I'll probably listen to it again at some point in the future. My recommendation would have been for Cade Courtley to read it himself since I like his style.

Great information

This was a really great book and I learned quite a bit even though I am used to camping, shooting, have taken first aid, etc. The only downside is that, with the audio book, you don't get any pictures or diagrams that I would assume the paper version would include. Not a bad listen but it can get a little rough to just straight power through. I broke it up over a week with several other books. Of course I do this with pretty much all my listening and reading so maybe that isn't saying anything... Worth your time and worth having a paper copy to go on the shelf for future reference.

... umm...

Well, all I can say is I enjoyed listening to it. I can't really recommend it, though. I think I only liked this for two reasons. 1. I like anything to do with badass military special forces. 2. R.C. Bray can read the phone book and I would listen to it.

Practical advice for unusual situations

I felt that the information provided in this book, although helpful in particular situations, isn't terribly relevant to MY every day life. That being said, this is worth listening to because anything you are able to absorb could save lives one day in an extreme situation. I though this would explore the mind set of a SEAL and be less focused on how to treat hypothermia, snake bites, survive tornados, etc.

The narrator is a perfect choice for this book.

Good listening for long commutes.

Good information on surviving catastrophes and preparing for for your average layman. Well organized and easy to understand.

Expected awesome stories

This is literally a guide, and it's a begin with the basics approach. While it is all legitimate stuff, it's pretty dang boring. I was expecting it to be more about survival in extreme situations. You know Bada$$ Seal stuff, instead it was practical and boring like my real life. The lengthy portion of how important seat belts are and you should never text and drive etc were the last words I heard before I gave up on it.

Just what I wanted

Some things I may have wanted to know a little more about and some things I wanted to know less. All depends on your background, lifestyle and where you live. All in all well worth your time to listen!
