Publisher's summary

Can you remember that one time you got recognized or someone thanked you for your contribution to their life? You were a rock star, even for just one second. This book isn't about a charmed path to success or some untouchable fairy tale that nobody can relate to - this is about going from rock bottom to rock star, something that everybody can relate to.

In his first book, Blair shared the brutally honest story of how he went from an at-risk youth sleeping on a mattress on the floor of a shack to a self-made multimillionaire by his early 20s. As his story became a national sensation, fans started asking him how they, too, could become entrepreneurs, take their careers to the next level, and achieve financial freedom. Rock Bottom to Rock Star answers those questions.

Blair has battled extreme obstacles: life as a former gang member, balancing a demanding career with single parenthood, building and selling multiple companies, and making and losing tens of millions of dollars (sometimes all in one day). He wants to help others avoid the mistakes he made in the school of hard knocks, so he has compiled his unique advice for going from rock bottom to rock star in whatever field you choose to pursue.

Much of his advice is counterintuitive and definitely not what you would learn in business school. Here's one example:

"Don't believe your own hype. The moment you start celebrating, you've left the stage. It wasn't celebration that made you a rock star. It was hard work."

If you're serious about making the most of your life and you're ready to become the "rock star next door" instead of just looking up to them, this may be the most rewarding book you'll ever hear.

Critic reviews

"Highly successful entrepreneur and best-selling author Blair here writes on how to become a financial success.... The rules for being a rock star include taking advice from only those qualified to give it, not believing your own hype, practicing, surrounding yourself with people who help you achieve your goals, and remembering where you came from. Blair draws from his own experiences in discussing such issues as optimizing your time, finding your strengths or 'superpowers,' goal setting, launching products, and survival skills. VERDICT: An inspirational, practical guide to financial and entrepreneurial success." (Library Journal)

“I’ve known Ryan for quite some time, but I had no idea what it took for him to become the rockstar that he is. Whether you’re at the bottom or on your journey to the top, Ryan Blair’s been there and can show you the way.” (Lewis Howes, author of The School of Greatness)

“Having trouble finding the energy and purpose you know you have inside you? This book is one story after another on the practical actions you can take to start transforming into the rock star leader you want to be.” (John C. Maxwell, author of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership)

Good Story

Personal story was good, it lost me a little bit in the middle, when it was talking about the company acquisitions. Other than that I enjoyed it. I would check out his other books

Liked Ryan’s newest so much I went back and bought his first.

It’s one thing to read an author’s words. In Ryan’s case, his reading brings it all to life. RBtoRS will stick with you, not just for the text but for it’s tone and temper!

Ryan Blair Reveals Challenges to Becoming a Rock Star

I love listening to audiobooks, especially when read by the author. In this book, Ryan reveals how most of his strength was found during his failures. We have all been knocked down on our quest to greatness. Many give up trying because of lack of support and financial setbacks. Ryan is living proof that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and truly believe that God has a BIGGER plan for your life if you give the best of yourself and wait for His timing.

I listened to Ryan’s book because I just signed up for the Accelerator program with his company AlterCall. I searched for years to work with the right company and people to increase my audience for my book “God Promised Me Wings to Fly: Life for Survivors After Suicide.” I am not certain how I discovered Ryan and his amazing company. As written in the Bible, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” I believe our connection is a God calling.

Life changing

Ryan Blair is such a savvy and intelligent writer who has a knack for translating his street smarts into real life wisdom. I couldn't put my headphones down. As an entrepreneur and someone who wants to be a. Enter businessperson, I learned more in the 24 hours that I listened to this than I have in the past few years of running a business. I'd recommend it to anyone who is passionate for their craft and wanting to leave a legacy - and that your battle scars are what make you uniquely beautiful.
