Publisher's Summary

Can you remember that one time you got recognized or someone thanked you for your contribution to their life? You were a rock star, even for just one second. This book isn't about a charmed path to success or some untouchable fairy tale that nobody can relate to - this is about going from rock bottom to rock star, something that everybody can relate to.
In his first book, Blair shared the brutally honest story of how he went from an at-risk youth sleeping on a mattress on the floor of a shack to a self-made multimillionaire by his early 20s. As his story became a national sensation, fans started asking him how they, too, could become entrepreneurs, take their careers to the next level, and achieve financial freedom. Rock Bottom to Rock Star answers those questions.
Blair has battled extreme obstacles: life as a former gang member, balancing a demanding career with single parenthood, building and selling multiple companies, and making and losing tens of millions of dollars (sometimes all in one day). He wants to help others avoid the mistakes he made in the school of hard knocks, so he has compiled his unique advice for going from rock bottom to rock star in whatever field you choose to pursue.
Much of his advice is counterintuitive and definitely not what you would learn in business school. Here's one example:
"Don't believe your own hype. The moment you start celebrating, you've left the stage. It wasn't celebration that made you a rock star. It was hard work."
If you're serious about making the most of your life and you're ready to become the "rock star next door" instead of just looking up to them, this may be the most rewarding book you'll ever hear.

Great reminder to dig deeper & own it!

Great reminder about raising standards about who "u" "really are" & develop ur inner rockstar that we all have inside each of each us.
Excellent narration!
This is more of a "guy" book in my opinion; such as 20-30 yr old entrepreneurs. (I really don't care about his fame & ability to date hot models, buy fancy cars & expensive watches.)
The best part was the last few chapters (when he went to Carnaval thru to the end).
Good book & reminder that we all have to dig deeper for what we truly want; whatever that means to each of us.

As a Pastor...I loved Ryan's transparency

What did you love best about Rock Bottom to Rock Star?

Ryan's transparency. That which is brought to the light...becomes light Eph 5:13 I believe this will si ply be a launching pad for the things Ryan's supposed to do in the future.

What did you like best about this story?

I lived through many of the stories involved so I know how true they are. Knowing more back story gives me even greater respect. Even with his confessions of poor choices he embraces ownership of failure and positions himself for further growth.

What about Ryan Blair’s performance did you like?

Many Christians will shut down because of the profanity in the book...though I'm not a fan of profanity, I do believe his reason was to be completely authentic. Transparency and humility are the strength of this book. His use of such language was to be transparent with his thoughts in my opinion. The language was not used for prurient reasons, but for complete honesty.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Rock Bottom to Rock Star?

I have greater insight on never quitting. Most people would have shut down with those obstacles. It deepens my respect

Any additional comments?

As a Christian leader...there are things he shares about his actions I do not approve of. What I love about Ryan is he does not hide it and wants to learn from them. I know that, because I know Ryan. This was an authentic book...not a Christian book...but carrying Christlike responses for growth through contrition.

Startlingly Honest!

What made the experience of listening to Rock Bottom to Rock Star the most enjoyable?

Listening to the Authors voice made it compelling. I felt his words, his emotion, his thinking.

What other book might you compare Rock Bottom to Rock Star to, and why?

I do not read enough to answer this question - I just found Ryam Blair compelling and having listened to him live and on social media I was excited to make this purchase.

What about Ryan Blair’s performance did you like?

Raw honesty, his vulnerability... his truth.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I gasped and then cried towards the end.

Any additional comments?

Teachings like this are a Blessing.
